  1. j darcy .it would make no difference to my dogs in the past if they were park deer or not park deer. pheashants are just reared in pens some are so tame you could throw a handfull of corn and they will come to you .most of my deer especially cwd in the past were wild woburn estate deer i took very few deer from the park itself a handfull of cwd one fallow and a barasinga and one pere davide .even if i did catch a odd park deer at least they had hundreds of acres to run away in they were not herded into fields and blasted with shotguns or shot from hundreds of yds away with a rifle thats very
  2. the seeker. why have the left overs from your masters table when you can have the main course
  3. dimmock20.would you say a timber wolf was hailf hearted if he chased a deer for a few hundred yds and stopped \? then chased another deer for 13 miles because he realised he could run it down.
  4. the sheep speak and make excuses for thier money masters thieveing .they bleat and they bleat while the wolves circle around thier door and the vultures fly overhead.
  5. yes your honour mr x was caught in possesion of two hares and one lurcher dog.yes he is known to us .i think we should make a excample of him whaht whaht.ok how about 3 months in prison ? .cant you make it six ? after all we dont want him out and about at pheasant season .ok..oh by the way we are haveing a hare shoot tomorrow for the estate workers .same as last year about 650.oh no only 648.dont forget we had two poached .oh yes that reminds me i see that llyods and the halifax have had to be bailed out .oh no does thaht mean we will all have to go to prison for gambling with savers money ?
  6. perthshire keper.you and a lot of your kind are greedy selfish sob .i have known lots of keepers like you tight wads who want all of the estates hares and rabits for themselves thier arses squeak when they walk .if i had the money for a scottish estate the first thing to go would be people like you .like the early white man in america you think that your lands will be full of game for ever .you canott see any further than your bowl of cold porridge .you just keep on doffing your cap to your illuminatti masters .when your old and finished sitting in your wee bed then maybe just maybe the penny
  7. i remember in 1974 lord rothschilds estate wing in buckinghamshire they had a hare shoot shot 250 .four decades later hardly a hare to be seen.caught a hare weeks later hobbling down a bridleway .more holes in it than a tetley tea bag. game keeper drove up and said what do you think your doing ? i said putting one of the hares you maimed out of its misery . it was so thin it looked like a myxy rabitt must of sufferd for weeks
  8. daily mirror today online .over 100 hares shot .why not net them and put them where hares are thin on the ground .some looked defenitely pregnant to me .money as usaul talks.not allowed to give the hare a sporting chance but allowed to massacre them with shotguns.a very depressing video
  9. hot meat i agree that some people exspect thier dogs to do it all and most will but when i was talking about the gsdxg cross i am talking about a very clever dog that has like the gsd a ability to think for itself it is not a point and go lurcher .this type of cross will go blind in the lamp on rabitts but you get them in really thick woodland cover on deer fox preban then you would see whaht they were designed for tracking and on thier chosen prey deer fox .in thick woodland they are supreme .i can assure anyone that owns this cross would not be dissapointed with this cross preban.they are
  10. trigger 2 .phil Lloyd is correct in saying dogs preban who caught deer do show lack of intrest in smaller prey .my best dog preban caught 9 cwd one night he never ever refused to chase muntjack fallow or chinese water deer field or woodland but many a time he would not chase rabitts .a 27 inch 85lb dog finds it hard work to pick up a rabitt .it is far easier for it to catch a deer preban .big dogs can catch rabitts but due to thier size .it is not as easy to do.any dog over 24 inches is a bit big for rabitts.a good top end fast big dog would have very little trouble catching cwd preban as
  11. i have run mainly gsdxg for the last 44 years and in all that time i have learned that gsdxg like pure german shepherds have the ability to think for themselves they are not the average point and let go lurcher.in the lamp they will not exspend energy .unlike most lurchers if they see a rabitt and it is close to the hedge they will realise that to run at it is being stupid they will approach the rabitt at a steady pace .if the rabitt is on the edge of the hedge they realise 9 times out of ten it will escape into cover .if with a point and go dog they will lurk along the hedge line waiting for
  12. dogs are like humans some are clever some are stupid .if you used a dog on deer preban some of them would not chase rabitts not because they were jackers but because they wanted easier to catch bigger stuff .some wont chase foxes not because they are jackers they logicaly think why get bit and injured by a inedible object ? .some will chase a hare turn it a couple of times and stop .not because they were jackers . then the next hare they would run ragged .the dog by exspireince knows which hare is more likely to be caught .if a wolf was out hunting would he wastse his time and energy chaseing
  13. years ago i had a gsdxg 84lbs 27 at the shoulder very hard strong dog.good strong coat on him big powerful heavy type head very powerfull strong bite on him .many times walking past the gypsy site the pack of saluki lurchers would run out and one or two would try to have a go .he was just to big and powerful for them and after a while most of them realised that attacking him was going to be very painfull and pointless .he was only 27 at the shoulder and 85lbs imagine the damage a 4x gsdxg would do to the average size dog .those wolves have got it all brains tremendous strenght stamina we
  14. well built good working types with nice strong heads .nice
  15. on preloved some whippets are priced at 100 some at 400 and some at 600 .price is no gurantee of quality.people who want 300 or more for lurcher pups are going to find it hard to sell at that sort of money.i would pay more for a ist cross than a lurcher to lurcher x .but i would not pay 300 for any pup .the only exception would be if it was a repeat mateing of say saluki x greyhound.or a deerhound x greyhound or any other first cross that had produced exceptional progeny .then i would pay 300 maybe up to 500. but paying 300 for a lurcher to lurcher pup no way
  16. when coursing in the preban era i allways favoured big dogs 26 upwards .the best two dogs i see on hares on winter green were 27 inches at the shoulder 85lbs and 29 at theshoulder 95lbs.both had the ability to drop a gear the 27 inch in particular had very good acceleration on the strike .6 out of six is possible but not on six good strong winter hares .i have seen some hares that were so slow any average speed lurcher could catch them .i have seen hares slow down for a slow dog to catch up then pull away again .if you could go out preban and come home most times daylight winter time with 2
  17. driven hare shooting is no test for a hare .you could get the most obese set of shooters and set them in position .it takes little skill to blow a hare to peices with a twelve bore shotgun .to course hares with a good lurcher is easier said than done .over the last 44 years i have only seen 2 really good hare dogs .i have seen lots that could catch plenty in the lamp but who could catch very few strong winter daylight hares .a really good hare dog preban was something for the eye to see a rare priveledge . it takes time and luck and patience to get a really good hare dog .its not a commo
  18. walking my gsd x g lots of times gypsy wagon pulls up that there dog is to heavy for catching hares pre ban .oh well we best go out then and see best of three .later on down the pub no its my round after all its you thats paying for it

  20. my father was born in 1902 in a small bedfordshire village 7 children two adults in a rented two bed hovel .no welfare state only the workhouse .clothes and shoes were handed down children to children.constant hunger ricketts .real poverty .if you were lucky you had a good hedge dog usaully a mongrel or a small whippet lurcher .in those days a good dog would mean food a bad dog would mean hunger .the common saying in those days was if a dog is no good borrow a gun of someone and /give the dog a cartridge \
  21. i have seen a 3 legged poodle run faster than thaht dog
  22. 34 years ago i had a german shepherd x greyhound he was ten years old and on his last legs .my friend and i was out with his saluki x collie greyhound a greyhound xlabrador x whippett and a pure whippet .a hare got up and off they went thegsdxg was right at the back of the pack my friend said i canott belive that he was ever as fast as you claim .well i got very upset because in his prime he had very good top end speed and could really thrust up to a hare.well then a miracle happend the gsdxg for some reason decided to show how fast he had been in his prime he started to speed up drew up lev
  23. westy76 sorry to hear about the rabitt situation .up where i live we have a bit of flooding on a few fields but there is only flooding on river side fields the rivers were dredged a few years ago so it is not to bad tho some of my favorite fields which were full of rabitts along a old railway bank have been flooded so the rabitts on the lower parts of the bank have probaly been drowned.paulus are you in a flood area as well ? 3 rabitts in three weeks is terrible it must be a very depressing situation .the only thing to be done is to see if its possible and lawfull to reintroduce some rabitts i
  24. parts of the country as we all know are suffering very bad flooding .can any one tell me if the rabitts hares etc have made it to higher ground. a lot of land is going to be empty of wildlife for a very long time .i feel very sorry for the lurcher owners who hunt these flooded lands.
