  1. When I worked the dogs hard, I used it, but get the proper stuff, and use as instructed, there's lots about and it can speed up the recovery rate after a hard day or night.
  2. Good to soft in Essex, hiiip hiiip hiiip
  3. Wish I could bye birds for £15, down south most canarys start at £40, but the shops only pay £7.50.
  4. Got some jaws on him, not many lurcher pups can hold there own weight. Good luck with them & Happy Hunting
  5. The artificial ivy looks good,(8×4) lots of different types aswell, there easy to clean if you have a steamer.
  6. Need a couple of hens, if anyone has got any for sale.
  7. It depends were the protein has come from. If it's come from meat, there's normally no problems, if its come from cheap complete, the proteins has come from cereals, thats when a lot of dogs have get skin problems.
  8. Keep running a hose/water on it, the cold water will help to reduce the swelling, try doing this a soon as possible, even stand them in river/stream before you get home, but running water from (hose/tap seems to get better results than just standing in water.
  9. Yes you can train a dog to bark on command but that will not stop another dog from attacking it. The best thing is a f#####g big stick, or better still pepper spray or cs gas. Some dogs are never the same after a dog attack, and the vet bills are a joke. So if a dog comes charging up to you, and your dog, you be the dominant one and belt the f#####r.
  10. I read on here, a couple of years back on (gamekeepers) that every March a French shooting party, shoot an average of 1000 hare's every year in a place in Lincoln, so it some parts, there's still plenty about. An there's still a lot of people about that like a wonder on there own, and numbers are the last thing on there mind.
  11. Chicken and rice in Small amounts. If an adult dog, no food for 24 hours then the chicken-rice.
  12. A working dog, needs a proper diet, fed daily. I can't see any benefits in starving a dog for 24 hours, at any time,(unless his got the s###s) but especially when it's working. If you want your dogs to perform at it's best,4/5 hours every other night, without losing condition, they need red meat with 20% fat content, + all the extras. Happy Hunting.
  13. Wouldn't mind trying that me self, hope it's a bit more sporting than the lurcher racing at the shows, seen a lot of strokes pulled, and dogs with bulging eyes drug out there brains, and all for a poxy £2 Rossett.
  14. If dogs are fed correctly they will never get over weight(like zoo animals, with no exercise), I normally feed mostly chicken in the summer and mostly beef, that is % beef and 20% fat. You can not compare a wild animals diet(wolf) with a working dog, a working dog will catch a weeks worth of food in one night, where as a wolf will only try to kill when hungry/needs food.
  15. Old wife's tale, you go a day without food see how you fill.
  16. A Wheaton x grey or Beddy x grey. The best fox dog I ever saw was a wheaton x grey, it won many comps back in the early 80"s in Ireland taking 12/12/14 single handed.
  17. All most dogs need is an Alpha/dominant owner, that shows a lot of love and affection. If you want a dog to return to you as soon as you shout/whistle, even if his on game/sent, get yourself one of those gun dogs, that have been sent away, to be broken, and then act like robots.
  18. Alsation/Gs x Greyhound, will make an excellent assistance dog, and a very good lurcher, if you also want a dog that can work as well.
  19. I think rice is better than pasta for carbs in a dogs diet, because if you don't chop pasta up very small it will go through there gut without the dog getting the best out of it.
  20. Be very very careful were you run the dog. They have tunnel vision, when on the arse of something, and many end up with a snapped neck, on the far side of a ditch or dyke. Your will also need all your exspiriance keeping them massive back legs just right, because he will find doing six or seven races, in a day or night, very demanding on his body, as all is done with 100% drive and commitment, were as Before he retired that would of been over about 3 weeks. Good Luck & Happy Hunting
  21. Most are very game, but not dog aggressive and there's nothing they won't go through, over or under in there pursuit of game. But a lot of owners (not all) eather become a vets best customer, or you become a dab hand at stitching. lol A dog not for the faint hearted.
  22. A mates dog many years ago, snapped his front leg clean in half, looked hideous running back with his leg swinging about. That's why I would avoid deep plough like the plague. But who knows where the dog will end up after its been slipped. Happy Hunting.
  23. What the f##k is that, on the bottom of that second photo...
