  1. Where has the time gone? Funny that when I clocked the date this morning my first memory was actually in 2011 when a work mate turned to me and said, “9-11 again, hard to believe it’s ten years to the day since the twin towers attack”. I said “it isn’t, it’s the 9th of November today you daft old cnut!” True story.
  2. Love seeing the crops cut, the nuts and berries on the trees and the flurry of activity as the critters get ready for the lean months ahead, but definitely not a favourite time of the year for me. Summer, if you can call it that, seems to be ever more fleeting. Feels like if it hasn’t been raining here it’s been blowing a gale. As the temperature drops and the nights draw in I always feel a bit cheated if we haven’t seen many proper sunny summer days. Give me spring and summer over autumn every day of the week.
  3. Grew up on a council estate in the 70’s/80’s (who didn’t?) and my family had a bit of a rough time financially for a while and for reasons I won’t go into here. As a result we had less than most but were by no means the poorest kids on the estate. I was loved as a kid, but was never really shown love. My folks were both from broken homes and so I put some of it down to that. Since becoming a father I’ve done everything I could to provide all the things I can in the hope that my kids don’t experience that kind of indignity that poverty imposes. My kids want for nothing but I now wonder/worry if
  4. Has he been banned again? Agree when he’s on form his contributions are as good as anyone’s.., and he’s at least got a sense of humour. Think the issue for some is he sometimes gets into these bickering matches that destroy threads. Thing is it takes at least two to tango, and there’s been a few times I’ve seen where the minute he posts, someone takes a pot shot and so the sh!te all starts again. I don’t mind the odd frank exchange if I have a difference of opinion with someone, but you need to let it go afterwards. Take all the personal insults to PM.., or even better, take them to the nea

Call it greed or whatever and I don’t blame anyone for making the most financially out of an opportunity but.., Ticketmaster were selling standing (rear) tickets that were supposed to be priced at around £150 for £357 earlier because they were ‘in demand’. That’d be about £400 once you paid their fees. And they’re not even great tickets. Add to that the extra hundreds you’d need to pay for digs after every hotel trebled their rates overnight. I could’ve spent well over £3k to take the family to watch this gig but I didn’t, because I’m not loaded or fcuking mental.

Oh, and I really, really, really hope that they manage to ban mobile phones from every gig. All the millennials will probably have some sort of a meltdown or malfunction.

Not a superfan by any stretch but I’ll try for tickets on Saturday, although not holding out much hope. Reckon there’ll be 10x as many disappointed as get tickets. I also think they’ll be fcuking extortionate. Average Taylor Swift tickets were about 500 brick.., I think these will be at least that. This is a lottery ticket they were always going to cash in but I wonder why now. First time I saw them was the first T in the Park in July ‘94. Sure I paid less than £50 for the weekend. Those were the days!
  8. Surely the whole point of Twitter/X is that it creates a platform for everyone/anyone to air their opinions. Once you censor those opinions, like they did with Trump, it just becomes a propaganda machine for one ideology or side of the political debate. These outlets are the new political battlefields and there’s no Geneva convention on ‘fair play’. Where has the truth gone?
  9. I remember watching Pep’s Barcelona side demolish Real in 2010 and turning to my mate and saying that they should show this game to every kid that ever wants to kick a ball as the blue print of how the game should be played. The way that team would retain and shift the ball, setting traps and slicing through defences, seemingly at will was an absolute joy to watch. Thing is that team (& Pep) has to an extent revolutionised the modern game, with teams setting up to try and dominate the ball, and probably becoming ‘risk averse’ as a result…, but without a fraction of the quality that Barca t
  10. Usually by now there’ll be plenty wasps making a nuisance of themselves. Hardly seen a one.
  11. I get that, strong urge to be near the sea though rather than being on it necessarily. Spent an incredible day on the Angus coastline last week, beaches and sea cliffs and all the fauna that comes with it. Kids will be finished with school soon so seriously considering a house move to the coast somewhere. I imagine living with a view out to sea would be incredible and so connected to the landscape and all the elements if that makes sense.
  12. Just what you’ll need for the hottest day of the year.
  13. Not sure Man U can afford to sack Ten Haag and his staff and bring in a new regime.., and overhaul the squad. Already sailing very close to the wind on FFP.
  14. Another false dawn. All debate on immigration shut down again with anyone prepared to challenge the status quo vilified and labelled ‘far right’. Speaking openly about this issue or posting your opinion on SM risks your reputation, livelihood and even your liberty. Some of the protesters don’t help themselves attacking random ethnics in the street though. Wise the fcuk up.
  15. Got careless? Always felt there was something with Christie.., same with Kelly Holmes.
  16. One of their mother’s on TV bleating about her missing her brother’s wedding. These comments are on the money and I couldn’t have put it any better…
  17. This is what happens when you let women out the kitchen. Oh to have the country run by white men in suits again.
  18. Football fans are notoriously fickle, but the rollercoaster England have been on the last few weeks has been on a different level. On Sunday there were online polls to debate whether Southgate should be knighted, by Sunday night the polls were about sacking him. Only as good as your last game…
  19. Sounds like he was in some pretty rough and difficult to access terrain. I would have thought within a few days in the heat out there a cadaver dog would have picked him up. Still, 29 days they searched and didn’t turn him up. Sounds strange but then I’m no expert in searching for corpses. At least his family have at least one answer and can bury him now.
  20. I’d happily vote for the death penalty but it should only be used in exceptional cases and for the most heinous of crimes. A conviction must satisfy the criteria for reasonable doubt. Modern forensics etc. can often remove ANY doubt. Murder with provocation such as a jilted spouse etc. I’d still impose a custodial sentence, but murder of a stranger for or following sexual gratification and especially of kids, death penalty.., no question.
  21. Agree with you on Bellingham, he has the makings of a hell of a player. And my ‘bottle jobs’ comment was probably a bit harsh but, whether it be individual performances or Southgate’s cautious approach, England’s big names failed to leave their mark on the tournament. I don’t even enjoy ramming failure down the throats of the average England fan (excepting maybe the 10 German bombers/boo your national anthem mob) it’s the relentless bullshit from media, with ex-players being the worst. The link below is just one example of the p!sh I am fed up paying to listen to.., a bit of humble pie wi

Attended by multi millionaire and former Labour PM Tony Blair no less. I’d imagine Keir Hardie will have turned in his grave.
  23. Thread about the national team but change it to the league if you want. The EPL is the biggest financially.., granted, but still Bellingham opted for Spain.., CR7 went there as soon as he could.., Messi wouldn’t come to England. Real Madrid have as many EC’s as English teams combined. As for the football, I pretty much stopped watching 4 or 5 years ago.., all these risk averse tactical attritions are boring affairs for the spectator, I’d rather watch lower league or Scottish football. And as for the players, all I hear from the English media is how this might be the most talented squad ever…,
  24. Scotland were poor.., well beaten by Germany, drew with the Swiss (you’ll remember them as you needed penalties to beat them) and sucker punched by Hungary chasing a winner. That’s about our level. England on the other hand went in as favourites, were poor in the group stage, handed a very easy run to the final versus the other half of the draw, and were lucky to get to the final with a last minute equaliser and surviving penalties. I think the only half decent performance was against a poor dutch team. Thin line my arse, England were fcuking abject this tournament.., this thread is ful
