  1. I feed mine veg with every meal. Probably 20-30% veg (mix of carrots, peas, leftover potatoes, brown rice, and whatever's knock-down at Tesco). I'd read that dogs don't have the enzymes in the gut to break down the cell structure in veg like we do so that you've got to boil it up and at least get it softened up for them first, otherwise it just passes straight through barely digested. I boil it long enough that I can smash it all down and mix it through minced chicken/tripe/beef, or whatever I'm feeding. I do mine in big batches, maybe every couple of weeks & freeze them. Very rarely feed
  2. A couple of mine, she's 4 months now. One for next season.
  3. Cracking looking wee pup mate, how old? Thanks RM, she's 4 months now. Starting to really suss out what her legs are for now, and growing in confidence all the time.
  4. Nice dogs & some nice pics RM. Had a fanny about myself this afternoon with the pup & the camera...
  5. This time of year with all the dead leaves about mine can disappear before your very eyes...
  6. Looks like a brutal & pretty barbaric act was probably carried out - but..., fcuk all to do with hunting or genuine lurcher men as far as I can see. I think the report intends to infer..., based on the account of the 'unnamed' Barrow grandmother & the lazy journo that failed to ask her if she actually knew if the dog was indeed a 'hunting dog' or just had the appearance of one..., that the dog had been injured whilst hunting, and rather than do right by the dog the owner had cut the dogs throat and left it where it lay. That's one plausible scenario, but I could give countless others
  7. In the garden training the pup and getting a few pics of her when we had an unexpected visitor. Me and the pup watched her from maybe 15 metres for about 5 minutes before she flew off. She knew full well we were there.
  8. Leven isn't the place it once was (and fairly bleak at this time of year) and I think the Fitty has been closed for a few years now.
  9. Maybe try Kingennie. http://www.forbesofkingennie.com/index.php/fishing
  10. Anyone use one of these? How does it compare with the 'standard' lamp in terms of both performance and durability - any issues? Thinking of buying one of these and I know they're a bit pricey but could the price be 'offset' to some extent by buying a smaller (cheaper) battery pack given the HID lamp runs lower wattage bulbs? Any/all advice appreciated.
  11. Breeding sounds perfect for what you're looking for. Had a similar cross some years back but rather than Bedlington, the Whippet line had a wee touch of bull in it. Robust dog, about 22", & plenty quick enough. No pics I'm sorry to say.
  12. A report in the Telegraph last year, http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/wildlife/10405933/Deer-numbers-soaring-while-rabbit-hare-and-fox-fall.html, states that rabbit numbers have almost halved in the last two decades, and makes the link with rabbit haemorrhagic disease; "The biggest fall, in rabbits, coincides with the spread of a fatal condition, rabbit haemorrhagic disease, for which the first recorded cases in the wild occurred the year before the period covered by the research. The virus has been described as the biggest threat to species since the myxomatosis outbreak of the 1950s." I'v
  13. Great to see some collie cross types. Was starting to think it was only Salukis & Bull crosses guys were running now!
  14. The headline on the BBC report was "Lurcher 'left paralysed by hare coursers' walks after specialist surgery". The report also makes statements like " A dog thought to have been left paralysed and abandoned by hare coursers, has walked out of a vet's surgery for a new home." and "It is thought the dog may have been kicked by hare coursers to disable her and hide their tracks". I can't see any evidence in the report that this has anything to do with hare coursing, so what gives? Is this just another example of lazy journalism or is there another agenda? Remember this crap is served up by a publ
  15. Thought I'd let my daughter name my new bitch and wound up with a 'Bella'....maybe not my best idea!!! My first bitch was Cassie (or Cass)...done the job. All the best with the new pup pal.
  16. Some fantastic photos there and some cracking looking dogs!
  17. Good looking site with some good threads and more than a few characters. Looking forward to sharing my experiences & hearing about yours and learning a good bit along the way. Cheers, Peter.
