Last post reminded me of when I was a boy in the 70’s and all boys played football every day. There weren’t a lot of black or mixed kids around us or at our school. Of the three lads I knew (or knew of), two of the were nicknamed Pele. Neither were very good either. Can’t imagine it happening now, but no-one seemed to mind it at the time.

To me the merlin app is incredible. I can identify plenty of birds by their song, but there are plenty I can’t. The app lets you know what’s around you even when you can’t see it, especially the little brown jobs, the warblers, black caps, white throats, chats etc. This time of year is the best too, when the dawn chorus is in full flow. Such a buzz watching the birds pop up on the app as it picks them up.

I couldn’t give less of a monkeys about the whole lot of them, except the paedo prince who should be locked in the tower. Regarding queen horse face, and king sausage fingers.., if you’re the king and can’t decide to call your missus the queen, then what’s the point in even being king?

When I was a kid we had a telephone in the house identical to the one in the photo. Those of a certain age will remember the trill sort of tone it made rather than the bell sound of other phones. Anyway, my mum used to do her nut as a starling would sit on the fence outside the kitchen window mimicking the sound of that phone, and she’d run off to answer it.

Really interesting observation that. Corvids are very smart so there’ll definitely be method to them doing it. Not the same but I posted on here last year about a starling around me singing what sounded like a pond full of mallards. Never managed to record or ‘merlin’ it yet.

It’s a beautiful day here, but with April’s showers in the post for next week. I’ve already spent over an hour tidying and watering the garden and getting pots ready for planting. Going to head out in a minute and do a bit more, but thought I’d have a quick look on THL and see what’s cooking. FFS! Surely some of you have better things to do on a Friday night or a glorious spring Saturday morning than come on here for this sh!te?

Had more sparrowhawks in the garden the last few weeks than I’ve had all winter. Don’t know where they go. Been a nest on a golf course 2 minutes from me for a few years now. Last Autumn there were 6 young birds kicking about together, I assume all fledged from the same nest. Quite a sight.

I don’t understand any of the intricacy or motivation of what’s going on. What I do know is where there’s chaos there’s cash to be made. I’d expect the ones making the waves, rather than the ones trying to react, will be the ones making the most. In all likelihood poor people across all continents will suffer as a result of the instability and uncertainty of what’s going on.., and by the time it all settles down, the rich will be richer still.
