Were the USA millimetres away from all out civil war?

Demolition job. Hopefully the first part of the Spanish double.

I’d guess that elite level women’s sport there’ll be a disproportionately large amount of gay women.., and conversely smaller proportion of gay men at the top of men’s sport. In general: Gay boys = not much interested/sh!t at sports Gay girls = hell bent on ‘competing’ with men/better than straight women at sport I care not one iota about whether a sportsperson is gay or straight, only that the best man/woman wins. And as long as some sneaky fcuker of a man doesn’t don a skirt, change their name and think they can line up with girls.

Couple of lads out fishing in any inner city always going to run the risk of running into a pack of delinquents.., the fact that this one is an immigrant only makes it a double whammy on the annoyance scale. It’s a hard watch but much less damaging than a gang of Eastern Europeans knocking everything on the head and taking away carrier bags full of mature fish off a decent bit of water and ruining the fishing potentially for years to come. I’d make it illegal to kill and take any coarse fish in the UK, and strictly licence the taking of wild game fish. Imagine if the law went after these envir

Apparently the colour of people’s skin matters to some…, but they’re not racist. I’m confused.

England were awful. So much attacking talent and they sat off the Swiss like they were Brazil. Switzerland the better team over 120 minutes for me. England at least look like they’ve got a team of penalty takers…, and I reckon they’re going to need them.

Your post struck a chord with me. I’ve been doing the same(ish) type of job for nearly 20 years. Guys I worked with years ago (mostly dead and a few retired) probably forgot more about the job than some of the fcuking idiots I work with now. I’m 52 and I know it’s my job to be a bit grumpy and moan about how things were always better in ‘ the good old days’ but recently I’ve realised that I’m actually fcuking miserable. Problem is I’m earning a lot more than I think I could if I moved on, and at my age it’s a bit of a daunting thought. Feels like a bit of a crossroads and I’m sort of in the pr

Sadly the man managers, the ones who could incentivise men and gain their respect, are much thinner on the ground nowadays.

Saw a bit of this earlier and thought it was tasteless…, as was the reporting of it. TV presenters smirking as if this was somehow justified.., and in the same breath commending the grace with which both victory and defeat were handled by the incoming and outgoing parties. Reform got a significant % of the popular vote, and whether you agree or disagree with their politics they deserve the same respect as any other in a democratic vote.
-
No Reform then the tories would have been re-elected. Farage has done what he set out to do, whether they won 5 or 25 seats. Unless the conservative party realign policy to placate and retrieve the Reform voters then it’ll be Labour for many more terms to come. I think they inevitably will, but whether they’ll sort their sh!t out in the next 4/5 years is the question.., and will determine how bad things get.

Always found if you’re decent with people and willing to come and go a bit, giving lads a flier or two when they need it or when it’s quiet, and are always accommodating wherever possible if they have personal issues/appointments etc. that the decent ones will come through for you when you need them. There’s always one or two who want to abuse that trust and privilege, so I’d look to get rid asap. Decent lads don’t like the piss takers any more than the gaffer in that respect, as it just fcuks it up for everyone. Some managers think that all that’s needed is a rod and no carrot…, they’re the o

Favourite scene from the film…

Men and women…, or whatever they’re calling themselves this week, walking naked through the streets of Toronto in a gay pride parade. We’re expected to fall into line and accept or even celebrate these people and so make this an acceptable norm. I’m sorry, but I can’t and won’t. It’s not the society I grew up in nor one I ever want to live in. It feels (literally) like the emperor’s new clothes, where we can all see what’s going on but are afraid to say it for fear of repercussion. Get these weirdos off the streets. x.com X.COM

If you like a Guinness and haven’t tried the nitrosurge, then make it a priority. Recommend cans in the fridge all day, and put a Guinness pint tumbler in the freezer. Makes a pretty decent pint.

Win, lose or draw they’ll be having a party. Would love to see us get through to carry this on just a wee bit longer. Hopefully the link works.., pipers leading the tartan army through the streets of Stuttgart earlier. Special x.com X.COM

38 years ago today probably the most infamous goal in football history was scored. And look what crossed the line first in the 5.40 at Royal Ascot today!

Not at all. Think you’ll find Scots are a very welcoming people. You seem pretty well versed in trying to wind them up though, so wouldn’t be surprised if you’ve come across a few who think you’re a prick. I was merely lamenting the changes I’ve seen in the last 40 odd years. No issue with anyone moving North to become part of a community. My views are very selfish too, as I don’t live in the highlands and islands and would guess that the ‘traditional’ mainstays of employment such as fishing and farming are now probably very difficult to make any real living at. Tourism is probably the on

The highlands and islands of Scotland are filling up with English looking to escape. Probably escaping the migrant hordes.., but with the irony a bit lost on them. I’ve loved the far North West since I was a wee laddie but haven’t been up in a while. I’ve read about how busy it’s become especially since the NC500 and covid, and it looks like it’s become a weekend playground for anyone in the UK with a kayak or a mountain bike. The allure of that part of the country, apart from it’s obvious rugged beauty, is how remote it always felt. Driving miles along the coast on single track roads and sc

Kipling could write a lovely poem…, and apparently also makes exceedingly good cakes.

England have an embarrassment of talent, yet play some of the most boring football I’ve seen yet in the tournament. Just seen Kyle Walker interviewed saying “it’s tough coming to these hostile environments”.., it looked like England fans had most of the stadium ffs. They were booing a bit at the end mind lol.

Laughed when I read that.., had a few Barbour t-shirts myself. This year I got a Guinness micro surge thingy which I haven’t used yet but am very keen to try. Apparently the thing to do is drop a few hints about what you might like. My problem is I usually only find out it’s actually fathers day when I wake up on the Sunday morning.., to a card, a four pack of Guinness, a giant bar of chocolate and (you’ve guessed it) another Barbour t-shirt.

Mate’s missus just took a job with a housing authority and is hating it. I said it must be frustrating with very little social housing trying to find desperate people housing, he said it’s the opposite. It’s the entitled attitude of a lot of scrounging b*****ds that have never paid rent, and can’t even be bothered to look after a property. I’m a believer in publicly funded housing for the worst off and vulnerable souls in society, absolutely, but I’d be fcukin ruthless on anyone who abused that charity, and that’s what it is. The root of that is in education and setting out our stall as a soci
