I've no idea what the mounts are. They just came with it. Sat in the field at the minute, waiting for barrel to cool in between shots. Doesn't look overly promising through the scope - looks like similar results to those homeloads. Low right. Thanks
-
Could that honestly be it? Have only tightened it a tiny amount, but it won't go any more. Off out now down the field with Factory loads - will post back asap Thanks
-
Checked the mounts again as I only checked down the field after shooting the first 3 shots. The rear right hand screw had undone a little, only a tiny amount, but still. God I'd like to get this sorted - also thanks for mentioning the stock screws, the rear one did up another eighth of a turn. Thanks

They were just FMJ homeloads that came with it, guy who owned it before loaded them. Last time I took it out I'm pretty sure I got it shooting close to the middle, so probably tightening the mounts has changed that. This type of grouping is what it's always done while I've owned it. I only used 3 rounds on each target due to it being so hot here today and had to wait about 10 minutes for the barrel to cool. I have a box of 20 Remington Factory rounds - will give these a try.

How to figure out 6mm/9mm or 11mm? Thanks
-
Thanks, never realized there were so many to choose from as I purchased my rifle complete with scope, I never even questioned the cost of mounts, nor a scope. Thanks

Just got back, here are my findings - checked the crown also with a cotton bud and gave it a close inspection - all seems fine to me in the crown department. For the zeroing session -- These were the first 3 shots fired, at the middle of the target from approx 75 yds. The targets I am using are 17cm air rifle targets glues onto a piece of old cupboard and stood up in front of a bank. Here are the next 3 shots fired, at the same board, same distance, and of course letting the barrel cool for 5+ mins as advised between each and every one of these shots. This final pi

I semi-highjacked another thread, saying how my cz 527 American was proving to be less accurate than I'd hope. Have just checked the scope mounts, they were a little slack, ranging from half a turn to an eighth of a turn - have tightened them up, off to the field now to see the results. In the meantime if anyone has mounts they recommend or any lying about which you want to sell (1inch tube). How much are a decent pair of mounts? Right, am off to the field - will post on here what I found. Thanks

It was screwcut when I purchased it, are cz 527 American screwcut from new? I thought they were. Anyhow, yes the scope sounds good, I'll have it, I'm assuming the scope will withstand the recoil ? what about mounts? I expect I should try and change those as well? I'm using a mtm predator rest. Thanks

Ok, will check all that when I got out with it next. Too darn hot for it today. There is space for a doubled up bank note to slide all the way up between the stock and barrel when cold - have yet to try when it's warm. It's a cz527 American, wood stock, no bipod. I have tried it with homeloads and factory ammo (remington). The factory ammo shot slightly worse. As mentioned, the mod is as new. Is there a cheap, mediocre scope out there that I could buy to try with? Don't want to mess up my mates setup as he uses his out most nights. He also has a 223, and has shot mine (before the moderator) bu

I'd say my cleaning regime sounds fine in that case. I clean it with a couple of hoppes dipped patches, then run dry patches through until they come out dry n clean, I'd do this on average every 50-100 rounds, depending on how frustrated I am by not getting tidy groups. I wish it'd be a tackdriver. Thanks
-
How do you guys clean your rifles? Maybe it's my cleaning regime. I have a one piece rod, patches and hoppes. Never use a brass brush - read somewhere it eventually wears away the rifling.
-
Ok, its a new mod, 6 months old, about 30 rounds. Have cleaned it and cleaned the barrel, still not perfect as I'd expect. I have one of those MTM predator rests which I normally zero from. I will give it a go next time I'm out. Thanks

It doesn't really group, out of 5 there are usually 2 fliers, the other 3 may be within 2" at 100yds

I don't know if my 223 is accurate enough compared to what some are saying on here. I had it second hand, but was told it had had little use, but it's like buying a second hand car, they can say it hasn't been thrashed, but nobody knows. When I fire 5 shots during zeroing, the barrel gets warm, but not too hot to touch. I just wondered, maybe mine is 'worn'?? Have fancied a stainless barrel - maybe time for a variation. Is it possible to have a 223 for 223 variation? Thanks
-
Back to the point someone made about the .223 losing accuracy after excessive use - what is excessive and how do you tell? Thanks
-
You just do it - Just tell Police you will be reloading your own ammo. As they can't quibble then that you haven't purchased any ammo.

I dealt with Brattonsound when my key became worn and would not turn in the lock every time. They said they could send me blank keys @ £3 each - great I thought. Then when I spoke to more and more locksmiths/keycutters - nobody would touch the key as it was the double sided brass type which are so precise that they daren't touch the keys to cut them. So, I rang Brattonsound, without quibble they sent out a brand new lock with 2 new keys - free of charge - and I fitted it myself within 10 minutes - hey presto. I suppose I was lucky as the one key would still lock and unlock the cabinet at

how about using fmjs in the 223 for head shot rabbits, just as humane as an air rifle pellet, more accurate than an air rifle, capable of much longer shots - great practice and no meat damage. Thanks -
Advice Please Cz 527 .223
let'sshoot replied to shropshire dan's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
The .222 are a great price on there, but most are without optics/moderators Some cracking .223s to be had with scope and/or moderator included. Thanks -
Where? would love to try Thanks
