Quick Roost Shoot On Wood Pigeon With F,a,p. .22
random replied to mark williams's topic in Airgun Hunting
Honesty is the best policy mate!! You'll get a bit for that "admission" though, when you're confident and comfortable in your kit though it can show through in the results... -
After all this fuss about falcon accuracy plus I've been looking at light ish pellets for my .22,I get good groups with h&n ftt so was going to go for a tin of those then was in two minds with these and fap, anyway was looking at my options and prices then found ftt green, these are lead free 10.03 grain, very light for .22 and going into the cross over light .22/heavy .177 territory but thought I ask if anyone's used them and for thoughts and opinions so what do you think, worth a look??

Pianomans Stock Referb
random replied to bigmac 97kt's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Like the look of this restoring stocks, very tempted to try mine and I don't give a crap about dents and scratches as its a tool and I think marking them up is part and parcel of using one,and simon those memories that are being sanded away will become new ones that a new friend has helped make so not necessarily a bad thing, weird how sentimental we can be over such seemingly small things really, give it time and it'll have new memories to run your hands over!! -
Think the kid meant something readily available and cheap to obtain not custom made specialist one off type stuff, next you'll be telling him you draw circles on it!!

One of the things,of a few really, that puts me off is any time they criticise anything they instantly make the criticism seem not worth mentioning, one particular article I remember was hw97 v tx200,all the points were gone over and described then after a ten minute read end with, whichever you choose you won't be disappointed, could of told you that before I'd even seen the bloody article!! Sometimes still get the odd good article or story and like most of us say its nice to actually have the mag in your hand...

Sounds a good bit of stalking to get to these rabbits, wet ankle deep mud peeves me most cus of the noise you make when wading through it,travels at night and things we stalk tend to hear well,it's a few off the cabbages though so keeps them happy and you in meat, all the talk of fancy expensive gear always makes me think back to my old lightning, came with a £30 scope that you got when you paid a bit extra for scope, bag, pellets and targets, before I learned any technical stuff and didn't even know what a calibre debate was! Either hit my mark or sent one over the top with that set up,filled many

Good shot, bet that one made you smile didn't it? Everyone seems to dislike magpies but aside from the trouble they cause don't you find them an interesting bird to watch, always seem to be up to something, almost suspicious body language, nice colouring as well...
-
Another good session on this perm then mark, all about putting that pellet where it's needed and sounds a good place for keeping you sharp as its a perm with all sorts to shoot,trees/ground,keeps you needing to know your aim points not just at different ranges but elevations as well...
-
I think in honesty a part of us shooter/Ferreter types enjoys crawling around in the undergrowth getting prickled, stung and wet,a nice splinter or scratch adds to the drama of the story!! Fair play on the stalking though, resiting temptation paid off with something in the bag...

Worth a walk out that, worthy little opponent is the squirrel...

How Good Is An 18 Year Old Weihrauch Hw80 .22???
random replied to pianoman's topic in Airgun Hunting
No simon it'll be Mac keeping them awake all night!! Sounds an interesting place you've got... -
Oh and my "mob justice I'll do it to them bandwagon" comment is this,I'd like to see if those scumbags can take the beating coming there way as well as that poor dog did

Just so people know I don't support the RSPCA but this sort of thing is what they are for, genuine,no agenda, prevention of cruelty, its the courts that have let us down and if the petition is purely for a harsher sentence,no support or any other positive nod toward the RSPCA then maybe that's a good thing, let the system know the people its there for feel let down by it,this thread got sidetracked by what I think was a misunderstanding, but made a good read...

The worrying thing is they have committed this horrible act and basically gotten away with it,no deterrent to stop them doing it again,or worse to a person even, sort of people that batter an old lady to death for her loose change, they are living in fear now by the sounds of it and rightly so,karma will catch up,the RSPCA has done its job and the courts have yet again been too lenient, one of the major problems in today's society...

Not a bad day to wait in ambush, bitmof sun on your back, good enough result for two hours and got a bit of eating there, assume you'll post when you get out with the nv,you think they'll be good numbers to be had?
-
I know there are lots of videos but like to hear from actual users, everyday people that mention good and bad, honestly speaking,no one to keep happy as it were...

Night vision makes a world of difference ,but field craft still comes into it . You still need to be careful what you tread on (lot harder at night) ,wind direction ,keeping in shadows of trees ,bushes and buildings when the moon is out , so not at all easy !! Say you sat up and waited,so no treading on twigs, movement being seen etc,can you put the nv on them and they are blissfully unaware? Meaning there's no light to be seen, and only the noise of the shot to be detected by anything nearby?
-
Good going there, proper pest control! Without starting a debate do you think those numbers were achievable with a lamp, you know what I mean, not bringing stalking/skill into it,does the nv make that much difference?
-
You have got some ground to cover now then Mac,especially if they are perms that expect to see someone there making an effort, you and little hunter best get on it!

The wine is now in a demijohn, secondary fermentation and clearing, I'll stick up another pic once it's cleared and looking like wine and not so cloudy...

I like it when you're doing bit of hunting fishing or something else countryfied and bump into other people who look at you approvingly, the ones that ask questions and start conversations with a real interest are a pleasure to meet, the rare ones that offer permission must be a real pleasure to meet!!
