  1. thanks for the link, saved about half the rrp there, think i'll be ordering one of these...
  2. hi,read this thread; New With Gun Not With Hunting might help a bit...
  3. That's exactly the problem. There's a growing band of people in this country who believe that the only view of the world is their view and no-one else can hold a different view or do anything that differs from what their view of the world is. The days of live and let live have gone and that's why this country is going down the drain. So far as your issue is concerned Simon, personally, I'd video everytime I shoot from now on with time and date, just in case those pellets actually appear. Maybe even count the number of shots and then count the pellets on camera from your backstop to pro
  4. didn't think of the fsb but that looks like nice set up!..
  5. hi all,i was just thinking after doing some googling about the carbine or full length argument and wondered could a carbine barrel be fitted to a full length rifle if the mod was slim enough to fit over the cylinder,a parker hale mm1 seems to be slim enough and the mod would still be far enough forward to clear the barrel band making this theoretically possible on my hw100t (i think! ) or similar rifle like an s400 or something giving a bit of mix in pointability and shot count with a slight difference in weight and balance,as i said i googled it but didn't get a definite answer so thought i'
  6. sounds like a good session and with a variety of guns so got most bases covered i think...well done.
  7. where do you usually get them serviced? can't you use them?..
  8. just like mine, wouldn't swap it for anything...don't know much about daystate's though sorry...
  9. well finally got the chance to get out on the rooks (and occasional pigeon) for a while this morning using a berreta a302 semi,(not mine unfortunately) we made a hide against a hedge and had some good shooting, finished on forty odd birds including a few pigeon but i left early so was only involved in the first sixteen or so,i am looking forward to doing this again!.. was going to put up pics but forgot to take any!..
  10. i thought shits was deliberate meaning rat/squirrel or some other quarry, wasn't til i read your edit that i noticed and that made me laugh quite a bit...
  11. I go on a golf course with the same basic "only when the golfers can't play" condition,so when its dark or closed off due to weather basically,I find they will travel 50/60 yards easily but usually have little sets nearby that they dob into when disturbed,is lamping them an option?
  12. When you say "stick with a springer" do you mean that you already have access to a rifle? If so could you not use that and spend your money on accessories etc? If not then a PCP is great but doesn't make stuff any deader than a springer does as I've been told before...
  13. Went for a mooch on a golf course permission and everywhere was soaked, couldn't really go anywhere without loudly squelching and splashing, couple of times I stepped in ankle deep puddles when wasn't looking where I was going properly! And to top it off I missed the only shot I had all the time I was there, looks like some static lamping needs to be planned out til everywhere dries out a tad I reckon, well moan over.... Until the weekend when I can get on a dairy farm which will no doubt be even worse!...
  14. agree with this, had a few including an s410 and used a lot of friends guns but this is probably the best i've used,we all have different views and expectations so try a few and see which is best for you but if you decide on the hw100 i don't think you'll regret it for a second....
  15. each loop takes a rabbit round the neck to carry them individually but on one strap, then carried over the shoulder i think... hope i've helped...
  16. not really a good advert if we are honest but in a way it shouldn't of it did make me laugh.... hope they get a home were they at least get mucked out!!
  17. i have a winchester sheath knife, steel blade wooden handle around 3.5" blade cost about £25 a few years back and would recommend them if it's any help??.... bit of a side track but anyone used obsidian? is it that sharp and how long does the edge last?
  18. i have a pair of regatta neoprene lined, cost around £25 use them a lot and had no trouble, maybe sometimes you can get away with spending less??
  19. i use one like this but unbranded, cost around £8,it's strong and light and copes with even pretty solid ground... thankfully i don't use it too often!
  20. seen a few 2 and 3's come out, anything more than 1 is good enough for one dig though, would like to see 7 though!!
  21. i used to have a wax jacket for ferreting but i outgrew it and bought a cheap ex issue dpm jacket thinking when this wears out i'll get another wax,for what you are after i think a wax jacket would be fine, they keep you warm and are wind/water proof and stand up to the thorns and twigs really well, they weigh a bit but when i need to replace mine i'll be looking at another one anyway....
  22. i understand the feeling when it comes to keeping them in their natural environment, they evolved to swim in flowing water and don't get that in a lake but it's the owner's decision i suppose, also the lake is stocked with chub which is the same argument but i just fish there occasionally and would like to catch a few good barbel if i can... thanks for the help though i'll bare it mind when i get out next.
  23. it's good advice to go for a quality gun from a known brand, you'll get more for your money buying used,if you want a springer i personally like the weirauch hw97k and air arms tx200,but there are many other good ones by different manufacturers as i'm sure will be pointed out,and if it's a pcp then again weirauch and air arms are good along with bsa, daystate, falcon etc, depends on your preferences really but you should get good advice from knowledgeable people on here, once you have a short list of which you like and are available to you ask again for more in depth explanations of pro's and con'
  24. i'll give the bigger bait a go i like luncheon meat as a bait so will try this,i was told peparami attracts carp but will pick one up and see how it goes,my mate has a pole so will get him to try this set up and try a mix of feeder with these new baits and float with a big lump of something, thanks for the advice...
  25. hi all i have recently been going to a syndicate lake as a guest with a friend which is stocked with barbel along with all the usual stuff and we have an interest in catching the barbel,i tried with a light feeder and pellets as hookbait but still seem to attract other species is there a way i could target them specifically or am i just got to accept the roach, rudd and carp etc picking up the bait? thanks....
