    Apologies Deker on reading my post back it sounds a little arsey which was not the intention,it was early and i didnt have enough time to explain myself properly.I tend to get a little anal regarding rifles having researched allsorts about them for years and specing my own rifles. With regards to the 6.5x55 being more versatile this is my opinion on the matter.the 6.5 has bullets ranging from 85 grains to 160 grain round nose making it well equipped to deal with everything from fox upto the largest deer in the uk such as the huge parkland reds.I know that a 100 grain .243 bullet should kil

    Another vote for 6.5x55 here, much more versatile than .243. It has a great choice of bullets which have a good bc and its easy to load for. If buying new i would look at a Tikka T3 laminate, the laminate stock is a lot more stable than the crap injection moulded synthetic and even the walnut. Personally i would not bother going to Sako as once you start getting towards that sort of price you can pick up a good used Tikka 695 action and have a krieger barrel fitted and drop it into a decent stock fornnot a lot of difference in price.

    Cheers for the replies lads, the Brocock is an unknown to me, last time i had anything to do with air rifles they were using the tac cartridge system. The rifle seemed to be well made and very light but as mentioned above has a very small shot count which puts me off a little. Having had air arms rifles myself i know they are decent quality and very accurate, i will probably try and steer him in this direction but at the moment he is in love with the Bsa ultra se tactical which is purely down to looks.     Evening Gents, My 6 year old son has a crosman raven junior spring rifle at the moment, he is doing well with it but the trigger is total crap which does not help. Anyway back to the question, im looking to buy him a pcp for xmas. He has shouldered a Brocock contour supersix in the shop which fits fine with regards to length of pull etc. It was nice and light but even though he is big for his age (about the size of an 8yo) he would still need to shoot fom sticks or bi-pod so weight is not a major factor whatever rifle we choose.     Hi all, Just thought i would introduce myself.Im returning to shooting haven had several years break due to lack of time when kids came along,basically im starting from scratch again as i gave up all my shooting permissions and syndicate places.The reason for my return is my 6 year old son who pestered the life out of me for an air rifle after trying it at a gamefair.He got a rifle for his birthday and whilst supervising him i couldnt help but have a few shots and became hooked again (im doing this all for his benefit if the wife asks lol).
