  3. I've had beech snap on a fork hit mate, can't beat multiplex for catties, easy to work with and strong! Good luck. Put some pics up once you've made one
  4. even if it was dead, was still a cracking shot from that distance!!!! Fair play to him :-)
  5. You getting ready for next season Kev? New ferrets on the way??
  6. Hi, after reading through this section I really wanted to have a go at making my own knife, I was after a bushcraft style blank, I managed to buy one of Riohog on here (thanks for that mate) and after sending payment it turned up the next day which was great! I gathered together the rest of the bits and pieces and got to work, i was origanally going to make the scales from micarta as I've been having a go at making a bit recently but I went for zebrano instead as I wanted something with a nice grain to it, the only power tool I used was a dremel so apart from that, hand tools it was.... Hope
  7. Hi, does any one on here sale knife blades? Just started making my own micarta and really fancied making my own handle for a knife, Ideally looking for a bushcraft/all round blade? And help would be great, cheers

  9. I'll put some pics up for you if you want mate, again you can just leave it oiled, or you can also apply a varnish/laquer spray to it
  10. I'll take the pocket predator mate if still going? I'll pm you
  11. I always pull the pouch to the same spot every time ( my ear for me), then use a point on the catty to use to aim (bottom of top fork shooting sideways for me), once you have found your sweet spot, just keep pulling to and using the same place on catty to aim every time you shoot, it takes a while to find your spots, but once you do keep it the same , this is just how I shoot, sure other people do it differently. Good luck and keep plinking
  12. All depends mate, I've left some for just an hour, then left others for 24hrs, put some pics up when you've finished them tho ;-)
  13. Looks like a game keeper john milbro, got one very similar off BPR last week?
  14. Looks nice that mate, just watch out for fork hits as like I said boardcut hardwoods snap easily, happy plinking :-)
  15. Hahaha you facking animal!!! That vid cracked me up!!! You been after multiplex for a while now..... You then get some... Then hammer the granny out of it!! Try sandwiching the hardwood in between 2 bits of multiplex, so you get a nice hardwood core? ....... And watch your little pinkies on that router ;-)
  16. Be careful using boardcut hardwoods mate, if you get a fork strike they snap down the grain pretty easily, had it happen to me few weeks ago, if you can get some 18mm ply, draw a few templates, cut them out then see which design you get on with the best, once you find a design your happy with, get some birch ply (multiplex) looks better than normal ply and make them out of that, natural forks are nice, just takes quite a while to dry them out properly, especially if your cutting "green" forks. Keep us updated on how you get on
