  1. Cheers Ross, just a shame the late great Bpr wasn't here to see it! We miss him!
  2. Cheers lads, just a shame I can only shoot TTF side shooters :-/ ha
  3. Don't call lee a daft c**t.... He's not on here to defend himself. Irrespective to being a member or past member!! Hahaha . He sent me a few links to his vids. He loves it! .....Just please don't say that the squirrel he shot off the wall was already dead to him either :-/
  4. Yeah it is ply mate, but it's birch ply rather than normal construction ply. Multiplex is normally used in making furniture. Construction ply is ok for catties it just doesn't look that nice, if you can get ply then it's good for practising making different catties with it.
  5. Well after my failed attempt with the oak milbro that snapped after a fork hit, I set about making another, just this time with a multiplex core. Made this one from ash, with walnut spacers and walnut palm swell. I've banded it up and it feels so much stronger with the added multiplex core and confident it could withstand fork hits. Cheers Harry .
  6. Are the cobra's and barnetts pocketable for when out on a mooch?
  7. Yeah I'm with you mate, micarta would be better but used as a spacer . Or maybe using some 6mm brass lanyard tube and then cut through with the bandsaw once it was glued into the fork if using hardwood on the forks .I'm going to start using ally and multiplex cores with hardwood faces so that they will be much stronger. I'm going to make the gafer another catty but with the multiplex core
  8. I have a natural oak fork as well and it is tough like you said, if honest I kind've knew it would be weak but was interested to see just how weak, think it would've been stronger if the grain on the forks was running at 90 degrees with the tips rather than straight up the forks, also the band cuts weakened it loads like what's been said. Didn't really take that long and it was from scrap off cuts
  9. Yeah there was mate, shame. But better than losing an eye I suppose
  10. Made a catty from some off cuts of hardwood I had left over, main part being oak with walnut and ash palm swell. After banding it up I purposely gave it a fork hit just to test how strong it would be, after one hit with a 9.5 steel bb the fork snapped!!! So if your thinking of making or buying an oak catty then my advice would be don't. definately going to be using ally or multiplex core from now on!! :-/
  11. I agree with .338winmag, I think if your planning on hunting with it then you would regret buying a Barnett or Diablo. Maybe make a natural yourself, you can buy band sets off ebay if you didn't fancy making a band set, if you definitely want to buy a catty ready to shoot, then I would have a look at pockepredator.com , or gamekeeper catapults. If it's your first catty ten you should first look at which style would suit you, forks up or forks to 90 degrees as many are designed differently to shoot in these styles, good luck mate. Let us know on which you decide
  12. Sorted the trouser saga with Lee (BPR)....... Bit of a cock up on both ourparts, (well Royal Mail). just want to clarify on here that I never had a problem with him and I've bought other stuff off him and it's turned up no problem, I know he's not on here any more, but he is sound.
