  5. If starting out buy one made from multiplex mate, as they will withstand fork hits from inexperience. Pm youcanthide...... On here, he should have some multiplex catties to choose from, he's a top lad as well.... Whatever you and your lad choose, good luck and welcome to the best section on the forum ;-)
  6. I wouldn't buy one from there out of principle....... As Jim Harris has put a patent on any metal cored catty in America, meaning no-one else can make and sale them without paying him a commission.... Like he invented the idea! Greedy twat!
  7. I'd be lucky to get that in a season down here :-(........ Great haul
  8. ok mate no worries cheers for that,il start wasting my boxes of hex nuts sharpish see if i can get to a reasonable standard soon enough before hitting the pigeon and squirrel population round here make a box from ply wood with a towel hanging inside it to shoot at mate, you won't lose no ammo that way, or just use a cardboard box with a towel hanging inside it. Your more inclined to practise when your not losing ammo that you've just bought
  9. 10 meters is quite a good range to be good at target shooting mate, I try not to shoot to much into a catchbox now tho as I find it affects your shooting once out hunting, because your so used to shooting at a certain distance and at the same height all the time.... I couldn't hit shite when I first started hunting where I hadn't done any elevated shooting! Took a while for me to get accurate when shooting at different heights and ranges
  10. Got around 10m of 4 inch black flexi tubing if anybody wants it? Must be collected from Bristol. Will be away on holiday from tomorow morning for a week, so will either have to be collected today or when I'm back cheers,
  11. Just find a catty shape that suits you and STICK to it!! You'll never become accurate enough trying to shoot every shape catty out there. No point in just going out there and wounding animals for the sake of it, like YCH said, head, crop or spine shots.
  12. Nelson on here mate, top bloke and quality nets...... Great service as well, won't be dissapointed!
  13. Can't wait to get out on the stubble myself mate, your lad looks well pleased, that's what it's all about!

    Eagle Owl

but surely everybody has had to first sit in a car before having ever driven one when they learned to drive?? To folk who are already experienced falconers, would know that getting an owl to hunt would be absolute nonsense, but to somebody who is looking to get into it not knowing much about birds it's not....... All I would say is read as much as you can, and maybe try and find a mentor (experienced falconer) near you that could maybe point you in the right direction and help you choose the right bird for you, best of luck to you mate.
  15. agree with YCH, I don't use 9.5's anymore, hexnuts are defo the way........ Or 10mm lead!
  16. Looks the nutts mate, who you got in the trade?
  17. lol, just a bandsaw and a router mate,
  18. it's yours mate, seems you were first to say. Pm me your full name and addy, cheers
  19. Just started to get into falconry, my mate has a Harris and another has a Gos, I'm going to do a season with them to learn as much as possible before getting my first bird, but I'm definately swaying towards a red tail!
  20. Does anybody who CONTRIBUTES to the catty section want this catty? I quickly knocked it up earlier, only took me about 15 mins as was just messing around in the garage. It could do with a bit of sanding and fettling, but thought instead of it just sitting in the garage not getting used, then I'd offer it up to someone on here, who wants to add the finishing touches and band it up, it's oak with a walnut core, fits lovely in the hand! I'll post it to the first person to comment, just saying, "I'll have it please"......... Must be someone who actually contributes! Cheers
  21. I find it flys much better! Especially with looped 1745's....... I still find I'm more accurate using hexnuts!
