  1. Good news that the dog is back with its rightful owner, alls well that ends well, can i ask how far from your home was the dog found.
  2. i bred 3/4 bred greyhound 1/4 wheaton terrier a few years ago,i kept two from the litter,a rough dog and smooth bitch, the dog turned out very good on all game, afraid of nothing you put him in front of,the bitch on the other hand wasnt as fast as the dog but she was very game, and sadly she got cancer last year and i put her to sleep, the dog i still have and is still doing his job at the age of 5 years,i will put up a picture as soon as i find out how to upload it on here.
  3. Chances are he was taken just for stud,he more than likely will be kept somewhere secret that only these scum know,i say to you whoever took your dog its someone close to you, someone that know the dog,has seen him run,if i were you i would be watching out for so called friends with bitches in pup,9 times out of ten it turns out that its someone close to you that has taken the dog,so who can you trust and who can you not..
  4. no the beedy in my profile pic is not the stud dog,the reason i used this beddlingtin was to see what a cross would turn out like,if i wanted a full beddy i would buy one in,...just one more thing,,,what the beddy cross does to terrier hybrids well i dont know but i ask you what did the fell russell or the patterdale russell or the lakeland border do to the make up of our terriers we have today....as for you extreme hunter, are you a real doggy man or just a armchair hunter that needs to get his six cents worth.
  5. It seems to be a common problem lurchers and terriers been stolen,a few years ago a friend of mine had two lurchers stolen and a very good fell terrier,he put adds up everywhere, posted pictures on facebook and donedeal looking to get them back [but nothing]he reckoned they were taken out of the country, after a few months he gave up hope of ever getting them back, then just by chance we were at a game fair up north[banbridge northern Ireland]and we came across a young traveller leading his lurcher and terrier trying to sell them,we let on we were interested in them but my mate could,nt keep his
  6. Hi,i always find when a young dogs is eager for work a few runs on a night time bunny will do him the world of good, but pick your bunny for him, give him a few easy rabbits and if possible run him with a experienced dog,,and dont over tax him for a lot of dogs out there are ruined before they even get started.
  7. The Beddlington i used on my kennel terrier is a blue dog,as hard and game as a bantam cock,i believe he was bought somewhere around Stroke on Trent and brought over to Ireland,he is a very good ground dog but will hunt cover as good as any springer and has a very good nose,i never bred a beddlington x russell and i havent seen or heard of any around so i thought i will have a go to see what they turn out like, the kennel bitch i am using is only a bushing bitch, she has a very good nose and she gives plenty of tongue when hot on her quarry,
  8. Well if your looking for something that all you want to catch a bolting rabbit from cover or you want a ferretting companion or a dog for the odd bit of lamping, or you just want a dog for a bit of mooching i say go for a beddy x whippet, they are hard ,not afraid of a bit of cover and are very game,,so the combination of a ferret a small russell terrier and a beddy whippet cross is just what you need.
  9. Hi,i had a patterdale terrier years ago something similar to your dog,as game as a bantam cock, was afraid of nothing, killed rats at 5 months, and at 12 months wouldnt back down from anything, around 12 months he was mad to fight but my collie greyhound put him into his place and he thought twice before he would try his luck again, interduced him to charlie at 16 months and he went from strenght to strenght and turned out a great worker but a hospital case and he would go straight in for the kill and took a beating every time,i kept him for 5 years but always kenneled him by himself for most terr
  10. Hi,just wondering if anyone on here has or had a beddlington x russell, maybe a pic or two they could post up,the reason i ask is...i have a old russell bitch in pup to a very gamey working beddlington terrier and i would love to see what they look like,as i havent seen a cross like this .. Derek.
  11. Hi all, only joined yesterday so looking forward to reading the posts and hopefully can add a few idea,s of my own, well i have been into lurchers and terriers for the last 30 years, from ferretting to lamping and on to coursing lurchers,i have bred most cross breeds and am still trying my hand at other breeds, the best i found in the lurcher world [in my opinion] was the collie greyhound [first cross] for ferretting ,bushing and lamping.the second cross moved up a gear or two.,some breeds i bred and would,nt go down that road again was the pit x greyhound,as i found that most of these lurchers wo
