  1. Ill try and post a picture later of the location. Haystack is definately out as the fence is directly behind a fish pond. A haystack doesnt sound very dense to me wont the pellet pass straight through? Is carpet dense enough if hung from the fence like a drape? Box full of old rags sounds good but again is it dense enough. I had a pellet punch straight through 6mm plywood yesterday needless to say I didnt shoot it again. Zero risk of punching through the fence is of absolute importance to me hence why im asking. I need to cover enough fence area at the rear to allow for scope zeroi
  2. I appreciate all the replies, but I need something that 1) retains pellets and 2) is attachable to the fence. Space is severely limited in my garden, its just about 10m long and that's if I shoot from inside the house out of the patio door. I don't want pellets all over the grass nor jumping off over the fence to next door.
  3. Hi, New to this and need some scope help. The scope I have is a Hawke Sport HD 4-12x50 AO IR. 1. I don't know what I should be doing with the adjustable objective. Do i need to adjust it for every target I aim at or do I leave it set at a fixed value? 2. The adjustable eyepiece is just set to the most screwed in position. I don't know what do to with this either. 3. It needs zero-ing. What settings do I use on both the adjustable lenses to do the zeroing, and at what distance do I do the zero-ing at? My scope has resettable turrets. Do I adjust these when its zero'd or not?
  4. Thats why I wanted a pellet trap type, but as I'm mounting it on the fence I can't use sand behind, need something flat. Unfortunately shooting back towards the house is out as there just isn't space. Is there a chance that pellets bounce out of those pellet traps?
  5. I'm sure I won't miss it lol, but if I did the pellet would probably go straight through the fence (its only lap panel), which I can't risk obviously. A roll of rubber mat would be a good idea as it won't go manky left out in the rain. Any idea where to get it? Putty or plasticine is a good idea, how much would i need to put in that target, would I pack the whole thing full? Guess I'd need a fair bit to do that.
  6. Hi, I want to set up a paper target in my garden at 10m distance (its all my small garden will allow). I intended to buy one of these: The thing is that I want to fill it with something to make the target as quiet as possible. I only have a small garden in a residential area so I don't want the sound of pellets on metal echo-ing around the neighbourhood. As silent as possible is required. Anyone have any ideas or better targets I can look at please? Also, this target needs to be hung on a fence. So I take it that some sort of extra backstop is needed just in case I
  7. I've just seen his advert go up, but unfortunately its over my budget (plus too far to travel and I don't want to risk posting after seeing the thread on royal mail). So the one I'm looking at locally, with the scope as above - £330 an ok price? I might be able to knock him down a bit maybe. Is there anything I need to specifically look out for when I see / test the gun?
  8. Thanks for the heads up on a possible sale available. I can't PM the guy yet because I'm still too new. Anyone know if its local to the midlands?
  9. Scope is hawke sport hd mill dot ir 4x12x50. Seems this scope is just under 100 quid online?
  10. Thanks. What should I look for in terms of the condition of the gun and scope? Do you think id regret getting synthetic stock?
  11. Hi all. Just started target shooting and need a rifle. Someone is selling a hw97kt in synthetic stock (.177) with a hawk 4x12x50 illuminated scope for £330. Its 3 months old. Is this a good buy? Ideally id have liked a wooden stock as I think they look nicer but its not a deal breaker I dont think. Is .177 the right calibre for target shooting? Been reading up on sfs tuning too so could get this done at some point but not straight away. As its used, what should I look out for? Im going to shoot it at the range next week. Thanks. Dan.
