For Sale Hw97K 177 Sfs Stage 1 Tuned
dangerousdan replied to dangerousdan's topic in Gun's and Rifle's
Still for sale -
I am selling my Weihrauch HW97K in .177. It is about a year old and had a Sandwell Field Sports stage 1 tune earlier this year. It shoots very nice and is very accurate. Has beech stock in 9/10 condition with sling fitted. Scope fitted is a Hawke Sport HD 4-12x50 AO IR. Will sell with or without scope. Collection only from Dudley, West Midlands. £360 with scope or £330 without.

For Sale Weirauch 97K Rh Beech Stock.
dangerousdan replied to thursodog's topic in Gun's and Rifle's
Hi Chris. Pm sent. Thanks Dan. -
My 97 is in SFS for a tune right now. When I took it in the guy there (not tony), showed me the record book they keep for all the post tune power tests, all were around 11 ft/lbs and they document the pellet used and the power for every rifle they tune. Regarding those people who have had rifles drift over, I guess thats the issue with not being local. It would be better if there were more local tuners around the country, I certainly wouldn't be sending mine away by post no way. Luckily I'm local to SFS.

Stripping & Tuning Hw97Kt Blackline
dangerousdan replied to Marksman's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Nice vid mate. I tried to strip my 97 a week ago, could not budge the end block at all. Had to give up. Could probably have done it with a vice and a longer lever but using the spanner hitting approach it just wouldn't budge. Rifle now in SFS for the pro's to sort it out. -
I've changed my mind on these pellets, at least in my .22 TX200. They are so tight fitting that they are making the gun more twangy and power variations.

I was under the impression that once applied stain couldn't be removed as it soaks into the wood. What stain colours would normally look good on a beech stock? I guess the usual walnut would be the most common but how dark should I go with it? Is there a way to tell how it would come out by looking at my original stock? Here's the butt end, hard to get a good picture.
-
Does anyone have any photos of a stock left as natural beech vs one stained either walnut or darker? Does anyone have any photots of stocks lacquered vs oil finish? Ive never done this before I just want to be sure on the finish I want before I start. Will staining the stock differently from its factory finish devalue the gun if I ever sell it on? Thanks
-
So will the stock underneith the existing laquer already be stained or is it the laquer giving it its current colour? Im concerned that staining the wood would be irreversible? Without the laquer does this make it more susceptable to knocks? Does the oil have a colour? If I didnt stain would the natural beech colour look crap?
-
Hi all. My tx200 beech stock has some dings in it, mostly at the butt end. The laquer finish has lost its shine on some of the high wear areas of the stock. Ive been reading up on stripping and oiling. If I strip the laquer off, will the colour of the stock underneith be different or change? What will oiling do to the colour; and the surface finish of oil, is it gloss or matt, smooth or wood grain feel? Thanks.

I bought these yesterday and used them today they are brilliant in my tx200. 5.53 head size is quite a tight fit in the barrel and was chrono'ing around 11.1 ftlbs Cant wait to try them in my .177 next week.

DIY custom stocks
dangerousdan replied to SEAN3513's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
They have small routing / milling attachments with them. There's even a flexible extending tool attachment. http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/7151000.htm I dont have space for a workbench and router setup, but could sit on my sofa with a blank and a dremel lol. -

Some fantastic looking stocks on here and some great talent. Would it be possible to use one of those dremel type tools with all the various attachments to carve out a gunstock from scratch, including the inside where the mechanism fits? -
Have you chrono'd with them, see if the lube makes any difference? MIght try these myself if they have them in the shop tomorrow.
-
All sorted then! Does it shoot nice? Which chrony did you go for? Do you know if it was stage 1 or 2 tuned?
-
Did you get any photos of the internals?
-
Why would they have been put in in the first place if power was likely to creep up?
-
Given that hunters on here pride themselves with humane killing with one pellet first time, then maybe you shouldnt be attempting squirrels.
-
I'd have thought that it would have been a free service since they were the original tuners and its not been tampered with? Is it because youre not the original owner?
-
SFS wouldn't put out a gun running at 17 ft/lbs surely? Apparantly they put a small sticker over one of the screws under the stock to show if its been tampered with. Take your stock off and see if its intact?
