  1. I am selling my Weihrauch HW97K in .177. It is about a year old and had a Sandwell Field Sports stage 1 tune earlier this year. It shoots very nice and is very accurate. Has beech stock in 9/10 condition with sling fitted. Scope fitted is a Hawke Sport HD 4-12x50 AO IR. Will sell with or without scope. Collection only from Dudley, West Midlands. £360 with scope or £330 without.
  2. My 97 is in SFS for a tune right now. When I took it in the guy there (not tony), showed me the record book they keep for all the post tune power tests, all were around 11 ft/lbs and they document the pellet used and the power for every rifle they tune. Regarding those people who have had rifles drift over, I guess thats the issue with not being local. It would be better if there were more local tuners around the country, I certainly wouldn't be sending mine away by post no way. Luckily I'm local to SFS.
  3. Nice vid mate. I tried to strip my 97 a week ago, could not budge the end block at all. Had to give up. Could probably have done it with a vice and a longer lever but using the spanner hitting approach it just wouldn't budge. Rifle now in SFS for the pro's to sort it out.
  4. I've changed my mind on these pellets, at least in my .22 TX200. They are so tight fitting that they are making the gun more twangy and power variations.
  5. Hi all. As per the title really. There seems to be alot of conflicting advice on molly greases pastes and macarri tar substances and I dont know what to buy. This will be my first go at this I need it to be simple. Thanks
  6. Its hard to know what colour to go for isnt it. How many coats of stain did you use?
  7. Looks great murkey. Any chance you could tell me the products you used on it? Did it end up as a lacquered finish?
  8. I was under the impression that once applied stain couldn't be removed as it soaks into the wood. What stain colours would normally look good on a beech stock? I guess the usual walnut would be the most common but how dark should I go with it? Is there a way to tell how it would come out by looking at my original stock? Here's the butt end, hard to get a good picture.
  9. Is it likely that the existing stock is already stained under the lacquer? I ask because its certainly not light in colour. I'm assuming the lacquer used by air arms would be clear?
  10. Does anyone have any photos of a stock left as natural beech vs one stained either walnut or darker? Does anyone have any photots of stocks lacquered vs oil finish? Ive never done this before I just want to be sure on the finish I want before I start. Will staining the stock differently from its factory finish devalue the gun if I ever sell it on? Thanks
  11. So will the stock underneith the existing laquer already be stained or is it the laquer giving it its current colour? Im concerned that staining the wood would be irreversible? Without the laquer does this make it more susceptable to knocks? Does the oil have a colour? If I didnt stain would the natural beech colour look crap?
  12. Hi all. My tx200 beech stock has some dings in it, mostly at the butt end. The laquer finish has lost its shine on some of the high wear areas of the stock. Ive been reading up on stripping and oiling. If I strip the laquer off, will the colour of the stock underneith be different or change? What will oiling do to the colour; and the surface finish of oil, is it gloss or matt, smooth or wood grain feel? Thanks.
