When i picked up my first ferret after she had been speyed,i was actually heading away for a long weekend going to my nan's 90th birthday. I got a large cage that would fit in the back of my little hatch back car,and took her with me. I needed to keep an eye on her wound and the ferret in case she messed around with it. She had glue to hold herself together instead of stitches. She did a wonderful job and was a delight. My aunt and uncle simply adored her and even set up a dog box that had a warmer in it so she wouldnt get cold (we were up north so it was already warmer). They had ferrets befo

Oh wow are you serious? Here in Australia it will cost me $200 aussie dollars to get my girl done! She came in season the night before she was due to be done. Vet said i have to wait 2 weeks then get the jill jab,but every other ferret owner i have spoken to say get it done asap. Would have been Sunday night she went in season,off to the vet first thing in the morning to get the jab. I have no interest in breeding her at all,nor do i wish to let any male cover her (have heard about the breeding). My best option with my working girl is to spey. I believe the jill jab will cost me about $40 auss

My daughter does eat meat. I think she just doesn't like the kill and gut thing. We have a pet rabbit here,so while she is fine going out hunting them,she will turn her head away. Am hoping that yes she will get into it,after all it is the way of life. God forbid we ever get a sheep to eat the grass in the backyard,i would call it roast and she would call it Buttons or some such thing. Thanks for the warm welcome all.

I haven't seen something like this before. My father has only told me about slicing a leg between the bones,then slipping one foot in the other on the rabbit. Then it creates a loop which you can then hang on your belt. How many different sorts of rabbit carriers are there? Bearing in mind that one would have a ferret box over one shoulder.

Hi all. I live in Australia,I hope you don't hold that against me as most of you seem to be in the UK and so forth. I am a single mum working in aged care. I got my first ferret over 10yrs ago and didn't know what to properly feed him,or how to train him. I ended up feeding him cat food,and training him as I would a dog. Did quite well too I must admit,he even went to the local primary school and played with the younger kids in the class. He was unfortunately stolen from my yard where I lived in a small country town,as the whole town knew he was totally tame and never took a nip at all. I
