Finally I got my trophy home, they organized a very nice trophy exibition with all the bones what hunters harvested this year on their teritory. After, a nice lunch ended this nice day. So, here are some pics: The hunter's house. A gold medal trophy, huge 11.60 kg., not from this part of country, as it seen it is a totaly other shape of antlers! This year result: Mine: A little lesson for younger/novice hunters who want to have an ideea how is a red deer antler evaluated:

Here in Hungary the hunter school is pretty serious, you don't pass if you do not have the right knowlegements. But first of all, when you harvest a game, I think we must feel respect for nature, for fauna and for all people who made our fun to be possible. Every hunting day is a celebration day, live it to maximum! I like to hunt everywhere and if my job, family and time let me I go! This why I searched for a good hunting forum, to know traditions, hunting styles, hunters and learn from them! Thank you all for the good words and if my time will let me I will post other huntings experiences

The meat was very musky, never took a piece of it. I like red deer meat, we make great sausages from red deer. In the package there was a mention that I am eligible to hunt a cow (read sausage meat) if I hunt succesfuly a bull. So, next month, maybe in December I will be back. Respect!

Thank you all again!! Yes, you are right, medals, bones are just medals and bones, for me the feelings, experiences, well organized huntings and good hunting mates are what matters!!!! These are what come in my mind when I look at them on the wall. I hunted my best roebuck in the easiest way of all other bucks, but the most exciting hunting was one of the weakest trophy buck. My father use to say, "all what we bring with us are the memories" - make them cool!!

This one will be a gold in 2-3 years. ... and I think this one too.

Thank you guys! In north-east Hungary this bull is considered a good one, so the hunting association were I was guided is very happy! They had 10 bulls for this year to harvest, mine is the second one. The truth is that I do not care about to have a very big trophy, my dream was to hunt in a hard area with hill/mountains and thick forest, to hear them provoking each other, to see the bull roaring (is this the right word?) and to make a precise shot because - the high hormons level give them an unbelieveble strength durring this periode. Is a bronze because it has just 100 cm height, not a capi

Hi there, This year I had finally the opportunity to get hunting in rut periode. I think this is one of a dreams of a good hunter. For me it was, even more!! It was middle of September, first trip out was without result, we (me and my host) tried to stalk a bull but he decided to remain in silence after a while so we had to leave without disturbing him. Next day early at 4.00 am in the morning we were heading out from the vilage towards the nearly hills covered with forest. We spotted some rutting souds from some good throats and we were trying to aproach them before the morning light. Th

These skull are not my style. I like them in clasical way of preparation. Maybe because here in Hungary hunters are taught strictly to respect old traditions of hunting.

What Shotgun To Get On Budget?
Chreos replied to huntingladjohn's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
For the first gun probably you should go and buy one what fits you good, stays in your money and you like it. Here in Hungary a lot of hunters have a Baikal because it is a cheap and very durable gun. You won't care with a Baikal in the rain, hard bush or reed, they don't get rusty easily. ... Here we have no Lanber so I can't say anything about it!! -
Hi there, I am a hunter from Hungary, have 8 years of hunting and much more of fishing behind me. I sign up on this forum to learn new hunting traditions, methods and share experiences with foreigner hunters. I use to hunt small game, waterfowl and big game also. All the best!!
