just so you are aware if you take it to an rfd or gunsmith to be tested and it is over, it then becomes a section 1 firearm and you commit a firearms offence for possessing it. this does not, however, mean you will get into any trouble. once tested and proven to be over the RFD/gunsmith will give you some options. you can either sign the gun over to them and pay them to lower to power to a suitable amount, or you can simply remove the spring or any other major component that would render the rifle useless. if it cannot fire, it is not a firearm. I have been told this by an FEO and by an RFD.

I already have SGC and now looking to apply for FAC. I shoot a large farm that is cleared for .243, most of the other shooters with rifles use .223 and one uses .22LR but I doubt I will be granted for a centre fire at my first application so need to decide what rimfire would be best for me. I understand that the .17HMR has better range, but is also a lot louder due to the super sonic rounds, where as the .22LR is quieter but requires a closer range. will mostly be shooting foxes, but also rabbits when they get a bit bigger and are worth eating. currently shooting an escort semi

me and a mate are looking for some light pigeon and rabbit shooting in south wales (around the Newport and Cwmbran area). I shoot with air rifle mainly and he shoots 12 gauge double barrels. I have a permission at the moment but it isn't very populated and the other local owners have got all the shooters they need. not looking to hit anything hard, just a rabbit or 2 and a bag of birds to keep our eyes in. if anyone has any info as to where I could ask next it would be appreciated

Is It Cheaper To Reload 12 Gauge
shootinforfood replied to shootinforfood's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
cheers guys, looks like I will be better of buying than reloading. most will be used for birds, some on foxes and a few days a year at clays so not huge numbers -
the most annoying thing is, if someone dragged him up the woods, stuffed a shotgun in his chest and pulled the trigger, they would never see the light of day again. yet he (at the moment) gets to walk free, with a new name and a new life to carry on as he did before.

tie them up, cut them, and make sure they know they are hurt. leave them for a few days, and then let dogs finish them off. I could have fun with people like this, would like to see them suffer for what they have done

Rapist Killed By Girls Father Won't Face Charges
shootinforfood replied to TOMO's topic in General Talk
saw this in work. I must say, anyone would do the same and it should be allowed. there is no father on this planet that could stop themselves form killing anyone they saw doing this. -
as the title says, is it cheaper to reload 12 gauge shot gun cartridges, or is it cheaper to just buy them. I reload .303 for my dad and that works out a lot cheaper and a lot more accurate. I know accuracy probably wont be affected with shot gun cartridges though, but will it save money?

I like reds too, don't see many of them around. never actually seen one other than in photos. would like a yellow if I went for a lab

don't give up on her, show her who is boss and make sure she knows it. the offer above is a good one though, would seriously consider it before selling to someone who may not know what they are doing with her

wont be long till your back fit then, without my other injuries from the crash, after the op and I had cast off (also broke my shin) it took around 6-8 weeks before I could start jogging lightly again, and after that it improved very quickly. have you got one of those little plastic ball launchers? my lab loves it and the ball goes much further than I could ever throw it. gives him a good run and after about an hour he is totally knackered.

cant keep dogs in garden as I have limited space out there as it is, majority of my work is done there so have workshop set up, trestles and jigs and so on. only a small garden and no where near enough room for kennels. anyway, been flicking through the breeders websites this morning and have found a few locals that breed labs and spaniels. got her flicking through a few of the photos and she has now decided that she would like a choco lab. I told her no, I have nothing against choc's, im sure they are as hard working as the others, I just don't want one. she tried to throw a strop and fai

right. after some worrying news form the vet regarding my black lab, meaning he will not be becoming a gundog, I am in the search of a good pup. not looking for anything to buy now, as I am not equipped for a pup, time is an issue too and with a 6 month old son, working 3 shifts and not exactly enough money at the mo, I am simply looking into various breeders that will be looking to have a litter ready when I will be. have been looking at the usual, black or yellow labs, German shorthaired pointers, English springer spaniels and so on... now, my missus has said that even though

I feel your pain, a bad motorbike crash tore my ACL off the bone and severed PCL too. can you walk on it with crutches, or like I was, are you chair bound for a few weeks? I would suggest a good long session with a dummy or ball, as long as he is getting a good run he should stay relatively fit. or, do you have a friend who could cycle with him?

tie them up and take to them with pliers. I take great pleasure in worrying and abusing the local thieves. not saying it is right to get violent, but I am saying it works with them. my mates daughters car was broken into and radio was nicked. few days later another mate had a knock on the door, asking if he wanted to buy it. he rang the girls father and they went over. bagged him, dragged him into a landy and went off up the woods. when the bag was taken off he was tied to a tree with 2 big GSD's growling at him. haven't seen him since... I do agree that there are some pathetic law

I was told my black came from two yellow, bitch had been crossed with something though, possibly a terrier of some sorts

my mate trained all his with starting pistol into a shooting bag, then out of the bag, then gradually getting closer, then shotgun. IMO get them around the guns asap, grow up with no fear of them then.

Training Dummy
shootinforfood replied to shootinforfood's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
cheers guys. had thought of wrapping a rabbit skin around it. think I will just use the dummy to begin with. also bought a bottle of pheasant scent so might move onto that after a while then onto the rabbit skin. -
Slip Lead Or Anti-Pull Harness?
shootinforfood replied to shootinforfood's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
well, slip lead arrived in the post this morning, not the colour or length I ordered, but it is long enough and colour doesn't matter. works a treat. walked him to the vets, 2.5 miles each way, he tried walking on a few times at first, but after pulling him back and 'no' he soon got the message, stayed at heel the entire time then on. had him sat while other dogs went past, no pulling towards them. he impressed me on the walk. bit of bad news off the vet though, but nothing bad enough to stop him being exercised -
Getting My Son Of His Computer
shootinforfood replied to J.D.'s topic in Living Off The Land & Game Cooking
congrats on the permission mate. when I went looking, I turned up in my work uniform, which was then shirt tie and trousers. offered my services as an electrician, and also let him know I could weld and qualified to work on hydraulics, pneumatics and water systems. got the first on I asked on, have had a lot of paid work from him too, but obviously, the small jobs I do for free to keep him sweet for letting me shoot his land. have just rewired his house cheap, and he has told me he is buying 3 more fields that will need clearing of pests -
I have a few experience gundog owners that are helping me with him, but I don't think im going to carry on any further than getting him to fetch and come back when he is called, or to a whistle. took him to vets this morning for an all over check. she said his hearing is a bit lower than it should be, but nothing serious...but, his hips arent aligned properly, and his hind legs are slightly twisted...this is probably as a result of his first owner abusing him as a pup. I can still exercise him every day and he can still jump fences and so on, but I have to keep an eye out for any signs
-
I have started training him a bit, mostly just redoing the basics, sit, wait, heel and so on. I think I might take him to the vet to get his ears checked. he seems a tad deaf. I have had a look for way or mites and cant see anything unusual. when he is at heel he will do anything I say, but if he is 10-15 yards away he doesn't respond as well. even if I raise my voice a bit. not shout but just bring the volume up a bit to try and get him to hear me. if he is facing me he is a bit better, but side on and from behind he s practically stone deaf as far as I can tell. in the house he is fine, but

Shooting Sxs And Singles
shootinforfood replied to bullx100%'s topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I have been shooting a few lately to get a feel for them before I buy one. use o/u and sxs at clays and the sxs is harder to get along with after shooting the o/u. haven't shot semi so cant comment on that, but does take a bit of adjusting when you change from one to another -
No Military Intervention On Syria From The Uk
shootinforfood replied to swg dave's topic in General Talk
that fook for that, I have a few friends in the military, mostly all infantry and gunners and they all said they didn't want to go out to Syria. prefer to go back to Iraq or Afghanistan than go out there. the americans will probably throw a hissy fit and threaten to take us off their xmas card list if we don't help them.
