    MUSIC

Eddie Vedder 'Long Nights' from the film 'Into The Wild'. Gorgeous gorgeous song http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=XlFhbUCk5kw I love John Martyn too.
  3. You're a soppy b@astard DS. Glad he made it over the water to you and well done Valentino too for doing right by him
  4. Congratulations! What a lovely way to end the year
  5. He DID have a name tag on but the phone number on it didn't work! Turns out his owner's abroad. He'd walked along the valley from a village 4 miles away, but we managed to reunite him with the bloke currently looking after him. They both looked delighted to see each other. He was a good little dog - solid muscle, obedient and lively. Someone's done a good job with him!
  6. Found this lad today in the HX7 area......... He's a sturdy, confident little dog. I've brought him home and stuck him in a crate to prevent mine from eating him. If he looks familiar, pm me please.
  7. thurso jack I think that bitchof yours looks fantastic
  8. They're both rescue dogs minion so it's a bit of guess work but you can see the collie in the merle bitch of course and beardie in the dog.
  9. Had a trip out to a friend's permission this morning. Don't have many good photos cos my camera's not brilliant and I'm too busy being excited and learning the ropes to keep taking them, but here's a few. We ended up with four rabbits for about four hours out and about. We bolted more but the dogs lost a couple. Anyway, although I like to come home with something the pleasure's in the doing for me. My dogs are getting the hang of it nicely though..... My two waiting.... Then back home over the tops....... We're all knackered now.
  10. Are there Teckel breeders in this country or are they imported? If so, who breeds them?
  11. Lucky you. If I had the money I'd love a Teckel. From what I've read they're great little dogs, and give tongue when hunting which I love.
  12. I think the question should be the other way round - how do pedigree breeders get away with charging that much for puppies which might not even be up to much?
  13. I can tell it's winter cos I just went out for a little early mooch and fell flat on my face by tripping over a frozen solid mole hill.........
  14. That black bitch looks fantastic. I didn't used to like bull in a dog but I'm starting to understand why people like it.
  15. WHY DONT YOU TRY A SPANIEL, THERE EXCELLENT AT BUSHING, HAVE GOOD NOSES FRIENDLY AND GOOD COATS, OR MAYBE ONE OF THEIR CROSSES, ALWAYS AN OPTION AND NICE TO TRAIN IF YOUVE GOT THE TIME AND ENERGY Out of interest, which spaniels make the best bushing dogs? I'm not familiar with spaniels at all.....
  16. most of the posts on here are, the drunken ones are the ones that make the most sense
  17. Sorry, deleted post due to it being drunk bollocks

    depressed

There's a book by Jeffrey Masson called 'Dogs Never Lie About Love' . It sounds terrible I know, but it's about dogs having emotions and his conclusion is that dogs certainly can feel depressed. It's interesting reading if you're into that kind of thing.
  19. I think you can get merle corgies too?
  20. How many pixels are those photos Moll? I'd love to have some of mine enlarged but I'm not sure they're good enough quality.
  21. Yeah, same here SJM. Actually I was raised on a dairy farm but I wasn't protected from stuff and remember being fascinated by the AI man!! It's a pain but I really want the permission so I'm being very patient and understanding and hoping to educate them which is a laugh cos I'm hardly an expert. I have a few friends who are antis and we've managed to debate without falling out so far so I'm used to it
  22. I'm still waiting impatiently to start on my first permission on an organic smallholding up the road from me. I thought it was all sorted but now it turns out that although the bloke is happy for me to get started, the woman isn't sure because she feels sorry for the rabbits! I asked how she felt about the pigs but because someone comes over and takes them awaty and kills them off site she's not affected I've also got to do it completely secretly so that their 10 year old daughter never finds out what I'm doing. I think I've finally argued myself and can get going soon. I'm waiting for a
  23. I guess everyone has their own idea of what constitutes sport or fair law and what looks like either cruelty or at least poor sportsmanship. The animal in Doxhope's video took time to die but it only had to go through it once. It's the same if you slip a pup on inexperienced rabbits or milky does out of season or pull experienced dogs off to let a young dog have a go. For me, it's wheeling a psychologically defeated wolf out time after time for what looks like a half hearted run by the dogs that's the problem. It looks like a degraded form of hunting from my non-russian perspective.
  24. Does it matter why they were doing what they were doing? I think what people object to is the wolf being tethered and used over and over. If it was given a free run and either escaped or died there'd be no problem. Some people think that it's not right to use an animal like that, whatever the reason, and some people think there might be a good enough reason to justify it. I preferred Doxhope's video to the russian one at a gut level, because of the behaviour and condition of the prey - one looked like a free animal fighting for it's life and losing, the other looked like a repeatedly abused a
  25. looks like a deerhound greyhound/ collie greyhound mate looks spring loaded ! was she alrite ferreting scallywag She was, though not as good as my deerhoundx dog who looked like he was born for it. You think she might have deerhound in her? I can't see that myself but I'm not good at working out breeding. She's got very strong collie traits. She's fast and powerful but she wouldn't exactly win a gold medal for obedience.....Her nick name's are 'The Evil Pie' and 'The b*****d'..
