  1. If that's how they treat a good bitch I wouldn't like to see what they do with a bad one.
  2. Now,now Joe your opening a new can of worms mate.
  3. Yeah this is true - theres dogs that do a stylish job, lifting the rabbits quickly and straight back to hand with them every time. This requires effort and training, usually from a pup. But I dont think thats what Mackay was trying to say, if you read back through his post, I think he was meaning for a basic point and slip dog that you release and let it catch rabbits, most dogs with a bit of greyhound in them would do the job, at least thats how I read it ? And you would be reading it right SJM.
  4. The kind of person you are describing is genrally known as an idiot or moron and are best avoided. Yes I can think of some more choice words to describe them unfortunately most of them have the permission on the good rabbit ground...but mostly avoid them now But do they catch rabbits?. They probably all do, which I think kind of reinforces my original post. Granted not as many as they would if they were sane with a well trained dog but they do put rabbits in the bag nonetheless.
  5. The point I'm making is lamping isn't hard and is probably , no definately the easiest learnt type of hunting , a youngster with a greyhound type on the right ground with access to rabbits could better an experienced man and dog on ground with less rabbits.
  6. Ok, with all the banter going backwards and forwards regarding the lamping competition, does anybody still genuinely believe that there's some mystique about lamping?. In truth could there be anything easier for a running dog or do some people believe there's a skill involved. I will concede that experience and regular lamping will increase the end tally, but is it really that hard?. Before everyone jumps on me, I won't be entering as I only have a four month old pup (lets me off the hook) but I genuinely believe I could go to the local pound, pick any lurcher type dog, spend say a month ed
  7. There's an old saying, rent money, spent money, you'll never see it again. On the other hand the house you buy for £,000 could be worth £400,000 in thirty years, so even with interest you could be up £200,000 or alternatively you could rent at £600.00 a month, £7200.00 a year works out at over £200.000 in rent to some rich landlord, I know which way I'd go.
  8. Not true mate, because she has mastitis this time round is absolutely no indication she may have problems next time.
  9. Lance?, never heard so much crap. Apply a hot damp cloth to the swollen area, then strip some milk off, if its yellowish and thick keep going till the milk looks normal. If you get to this stage you shouldn't need a vet or antibiotics, just keep an eye on your jill and make sure all the teats are being used.
  10. And how much do you think he's spent on drink, fags, computer games, holidays in the last five years ?. £400.00 for a dogs bugger all IMO.
  11. davieboy I'll apologise in advance for latching onto your thread mate but I've got the double of your run for sale and I can't do pictures. I'm in central Scotland mate so I wouldn't think it will affect your sale. So any scottish guys interested PM me.
  12. Knife not looked after or not it shouldn't be in that state if its decent quality, I,ve got a box of old knives in the garage some haven't seen the light of day in ten years and they look better than that.
  13. Two rabbits, don't believe you, any photos to prove it.
  14. Thirty-two rabbits at this time of year in under two hours on on the lamp on ground holding decent numbers is well within a fit educated dogs capabilities. The trend on here lately seems to be if I've not done it then it can't be done.
  15. Would have thought the obvious thing to do would be to have two of the same sex, then there's no unwanted pups and no need for any neutering or castration. Everyones a winner.
  16. Is that £150.00 or £15,000
  17. You might well be happy with your dog mate and it's great that you are but your not replicating him your dilluting him reducing the amount of collie which may be what makes him appeal to you. Personally I don't see the point in a 7/8 greyhound 1/8 collie but that's just me. Also, and I mean no offence by this, but I don't care what your dogs done but at seventeen months it may be showing promise but I don't think I'd be breeding off him just yet.
  18. Methinks your vet was the one suffering from brain damage.
  19. Got the litter sister to this pup, well reared and socialised and very outgoing. Have a bump on me.
  20. THat's a wind up surely.
  21. It's not hereditary mate.

Strange introduction to a hunting site, first seven posts defending a man you claim you don't know.
  23. Just hope all the neighbourhood dogs are ferret friendly or your son will come in one day with three leads and three things that look like terrier lures.
