  1. We get those toothy fish down here all the time hahaha. There is a cull of them happening over in WA (Western Australia) at the moment because they are "apparently" encroaching on peoples "swimming areas". Thats total bullshite in my opinion, its the bloody ocean and the sharks are the apex predator, its their playground not ours. If people wish to play in the sharks dinner bowl then they should accept the fact that they are not the apex predator. Where else are the sharks supposed to go.
  2. Nice dogs mate, they identical to our Australian Mini Foxie's. Similar to a JRT but smaller bone structure, height, head ect. Great little terrier though full of energy.
  3. Absolutely mate, nothing wrong with a runt of a litter. Your spot on about the JRT's, they have the heart of a lion and think they are 10ft high and bullet proof.
  4. Geeezus christ that is very light, how small are they..? my little bitch is tiny and she is 8kg.
  5. did you lose that dog before.. i see the green tag lol. im from victoria also. did you lose that dog before.. i see the green tag lol. im from victoria also. Nah mate never lost her before. She hasn't been out in the field much TBH
  6. Merry Christmas to you lot over the other side of the pond, have a safe and happy new year and then get stuck into some hunting. P.S Are you Brits enjoying the Ashes , I sure am.
  7. Seems to be the same stance we get from ol bill over here.
  8. swap you for a dingo hahahahah I would do that in a heartbeat mate, only problem is we dont have them down here where I am. Plenty of wild dogs up in the mountains though, $100 bounty on them too due to the damage they cause to farmers livestock.
  9. Ive got it why..? Oh just curious with your post being 2 months after the first one. I haven't been on here much, just recently started lurking through some older threads.
  10. Wouldn't mind one of those Patterdale Terriers one day, they seem to have plenty of hunt drive and I reckon they would be fantastic for foxes over here.
  11. Yep very sad, he was a great man and an icon in the Australian hunting scene
  12. Absolutely agree with you there mate, tight place are ideal for the little JRT's. This little girl is 7 now and stands 11.5" at the shoulder so she is very small, but deadly on any rat that she comes across, she has copped a few bites but it doesn't stop her.
  13. Yeah they seem to be very popular over in the UK and Ireland. I dont even know if there is anyone over here that has a line of them. The first time I ever heard the name Plummer Terrier was on here a couple of months back when I joined. They sure get the job done on rats though from what I have seen. The Wiki page on them was a little worrying though. Alarm bells were ringing straight away when it mentioned it they from long periods of inbreeding. And???Some of the best working lines are the ones that have been bred tight for years A much weaker immune system, more prone to various illness

  15. Old thread I know but I wanted to add my 2 cents, ^ this I agree with, its in their instinct to hunt small critters, I haven't seen all that much ratting so Im the furthest thing from an expert by any means, the only dogs I have seen ratting are JRT's, Australian Mini Foxies, whippets, highland terriers and an Aussie Terrier. The best of of the lot of them was the Aussie mini foxie x JRT. Now im not saying they are the best ratters, this dog just happen to be the best that "I" personally have witnessed. TBH we dont have plague proportions of rats over here like you lads do in the UK and
  16. Im very confident at taking at shot at a fox at 150 no dramas as long as I am steady and have a good rest. Anything paast that and there is less margin for error. Having said that I have taken 1 fox past 200 with the HMR but most have been 70 100 yards, with the odd one been 120 130. Depends on your rifle too, some shoot more accurately than others. I have no complaints about my CZ in blued walnut.
  17. I know of a few blokes that day in day out comfortably shoot foxes out past 150 with the HMR. It may be a tiny pill but if you can shoot you wont have any dramas knocking down foxes. We have a $10 bounty on foxes here in the state of Victoria in Australia, and a fella I know has cashed in over $3500 worth of fox scalps and all he uses his his HMR. A Savage thumbhole to be precise. I much rather using my .243 instead of the HMR, but it all depends on what property I am hunting on and the safety precautions.
  18. Mate the little HMR is plenty enough for foxes. I have one and so do thousands of other Aussies over here, as long as you can shoot straight and put the little pill into the vitals the fox will be dead before it hits the ground. Keep shots within 100 150 max and it does the job just fine. My best with the HMR is 220 yards, it was a flukey shot but not that I tell that to people when I tell them hahahah. The HMR was designed for thin skinned critters within 150 yards.
  19. What season do you start seeing a lot of rats over there in the UK..?, we dont have them in the numbers like you do over there but we do have them. Our mice plagues that we have over here are insane. Imagine a pack of terriers on this patch of mice. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCOorXAjVno
  20. Top footage mate well done, dogs knew exactly what they were there for. Gotta love the little JRTs.
