I took a chance on his nuttall book even though I read on here not too........ ......I reached about the fifth page and stopped. Looked at all the pictures and daft reprints of pictures in black and white and will probably never pick it up again. What a disappointment and waste of money. Could have been good if it was done along the lines of ns book

UK might govern it buts it's very much irish soil

After using strong stuff I'd never go back to leather collars. I've strong stuff collars 7 yrs and going as well as the day I got them and they get a lot of use. Leather collars just dry up and crack without treatment.

A warning to dog lads in waterford tipp areas. A white transit van parked outside a dog man's house with a man still at the wheel waiting with engine running a car entered the property and the intruder was seen running away from the kennel block out over a ditch and into the waiting transit van and gone. This van has apparently been involved in thefts and dog thefts in the waterford area. Be extra vigilant as these theiving knacker scum are at large. Just a heads up.

The terriers and terriermen of Ireland!
bull mcabe replied to DigDeepIRL's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Happened to us a few years ago on an invite up in the Midlands. Had my doubts about the man from the start but was told he's legit so I put it to the back of my mind. First earth of the day I was told didn't run over 5 ft I didn't really believe it so collared up an experienced and slightly ageing bitch. First Mark on the bitch was 16 ft. She was stationary for 3 plus hrs then shifted out to over 10 ft where we dug her. Back filled in silence and loaded up and drove home never contacted the man again and he never contacted me. Retired the old bitch that day. Wanker of a man only looking for u -

I might ask him does he have any pups left for sale. I'm after something kinda black a little bit white with a lot of grizzle down the back ? -
Irish people aren't bright....... and 3/4 of our country live in poverty.........you obviously haven't seen much of your own country. You actually tick all the boxes for American stereotypes. USA USA USA

Are you sure you're not Brian plummer risen from the dead? ?? You sound very book smart. I imagine shane was well aware his bitch was due to pup. Bitches often pup early on their own without someone prodding and poking and singing the star spangled banner at them with a thermometer stuck up there hole. I don't really think it's anyones place to be questioning his kennel management. There's more to being a good dog man than rattling off bullet points out of a book on whelping. Accidents happen in life in the best of kennels.

Never nice to have happen. Hopefully that'll be the end of it a fine example of you never know what's around the corner where terriers are concerned. Bliss in the kennels one minute turn your back and carnage.

The terriers and terriermen of Ireland!
bull mcabe replied to DigDeepIRL's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Thought the book was interesting enough because like people have said I know quite a lot of lads in it and have dug with them so it was good to hear a bit about there dog's history. As far as the final lineup went I thought it could have been a bit stronger but a few people turned it down which bluck didn't like. I was with a man who was filling out his questionair and digging out old photos for bluck which he never returned and I know he regrets going in it. And there's quite a few white lies in it but I suppose there's plenty in every book out there. All in all I thought there was a few very -

Are the pants for sale maybe lol. Fantastic bit of history barrie. Your snapper dog is the image of a young dog pup I have nuttall blood but bred over here in Ireland. Excellent thread now.

You generally just hear how nuttalls stuff has lost size and substance and most nuttall stuff I've seen without an outcross is generally very small but i saw a lovely dog pup collected off nuttall about 6/7 yrs ago and it turned out some size of a dog by the time it was 18 months. Bully type head strong in chest not too bad a dog in the ground either by all accounts. But then again who knows what way it was really bred not knocking the man at all. It was out of buster if memory serves me right
