  1. You could take the chicken ferreting
  2. To have the hob done in my vets is £45 and the jill is £70
  3. Well if its definitely a hob you should be ok to house the hob with the jill to next season as they're not fully matured till 4-8 months. But come next season you will either have to have the hob done or the jill spade. I currently have a hob and jill kits housed together and all is fine. But will separate them next year if I don't want kits Hope this helps
  4. Feed mine on dry and there cracking little workers. Its not really convenience for the owner as its costing £9 a week but at least you know with proper dried ferret food the ferret is getting a complete diet. Like certain oils/vitamins/minerals.
  5. I stand corrected haha. That's good to know then,i need a new collar
  6. I have a polecat jill with a tail about 2 inch's long, I was told that it got bit off by another ferret But I think it might be to much inbreeding which is the cause. I know if ferrets are inbred to much you start getting deformity's in the young like short tails etc. But is there any other way of me telling or not, as i want to breed from her next year as she's a cracking worker, but obviously not if it is a deformity. Thanks in advance.
  7. Not 100% mind but I don't think you can
  8. normally start end of September and finish march time, sometimes February because we've found in the past depending on weather climate the rabbits have been pregnant in march. I know we do it to control the rabbits but I don't see the point in killing say 5/6 rabbits for the sake of one. We will just take um the next time round.
  9. if you want a day out with ferrets and dogs give me a pm and well sort sumit for the winter mate watch that liam . he touched me bum when I took him ferreting . . welcome to the site buddy
  10. well it seems to be on here belly but also in between her front legs as well ??
  11. Hi could anyone explain why my polecat jill has got bold patch's on her belly?? Also she's come in to season again could this be anything to do with it any help would be appreciated cheers.
  12. That's what im hoping for Gaz_1989 for the missus to bond with it haha. Also the dog would only have to sleep in garage at night as would have run of the garden during the day, obviously wouldn't leave him/her locked in garage all day and night. If that was the case I wouldn't of even contemplated getting one.
  13. Hi folks im interested in getting a lurcher pup. But obviously haven't had a dog like this before and also the missus doesn't want it in the house so will have to be in a kennel. But I have a garage (joined on to house) which is only used for putting lawnmowers and tools in so would it be ok to house a kennel in?? Also how to go about training etc. So if anyone's got any pointers in the right direction that would be great many thanks in advance
  14. Yea pork is a no go with ferrets. I always feed mine in the morning so that's why I don't feed um meat when its hot because by the time I get home from work flys would in there. Yea always take out the left others even with dry food.
  15. should of researched first matey. Agree with Deej although in hot weather I feed them dry food only because it helps with keeping flys away. Also make sure they've got plenty of fresh water every day and food
  16. Yea got about 7/8 farms we do which are mostly alive with rabbits so cant wait for that. We also got permission for about 700 acres on top the Mendips for ferreting/shooting.Also stalking if we wanted but haven't got an fac (yet). Do both air rifles and shotguns Dan
  17. yea just spit in to your palm and leave it. Ferret will soon find it haha.
  18. Yea going to try what me old man suggested and let um lick me hands. My dad and uncle swear by it.
  19. Put something liquid in the palm of your hand and let the ferret lick it off your hand.I can remember my dad and me uncle used to spit in there hand every time they handled a nasty ferret . Im going to give it a go and see what happens
  20. Honestly don't know. tried getting her out on here own away from the others handled her regularly but no joy.
  21. My kits are exactly the same hobs are fine but gills tend to be nipping more. But theres one jill who is proper butch biggest out the lot even bigger than the hobs. Now she actually draws blood. they get handled regularly but she seems to be a right f@@ker.
