If i knew what hacking was i'd tell you, but i can guess. Never kept wheatens, but looking at them, think they are big. The biggest obstacle to more folks keeping working glens here is the lack of them. The turn to show breeding from the 80s onwards mixed them up. As for how many Glens and are they workers, I have a few.. Glens and have kept a good few over time, i do work them and am only interested in working ones. Am hoping that a few more generations dedicated breeding and selecting for best workers will really revive the breed. sorry about that hacking means pulling or drwaing

Word to the wise in Eire at least, SPCA heads posing as terrier people, be very wary when posting ads publicly and dealing with respondents, do not reveal your home address, home telno, do not be over familiar, such heads are looking to find terrier people and have certain views on certain breeds that involve such dogs only getting the bolt. Be careful, use a different number to your own when posting ads untilyou have cleared a new punter to your satisfaction but always be careful, these heads think theyare FBi or something, they reall really do, its all about the glory of getting the blood t

Indeed if you read the specs on medications like eyecreams, skin medications etc, and determine the active ingredient and its w/v concentration you can find a finer quality equivalent for human use in your chemist. keep Brolene as standard for superficial eye inquiries in dogs , liquid and cream, will treat v quickly, much quicker than vet preps slight scratches to eye surface. Also Savlon Wound wash for flushing out any abrasions post work , and when gone get a 500ml bottle of standard savlonn break open wound wash bottle top pour half cap conc savlon in and top up w cooled boiled wat

Why is there an anti hunting google ad at top of this page?
tortoise replied to tortoise's topic in General Talk
Indeed Ricky because if you want to get on certain other sites it is already closed !!! How do you exist in Britain with those crazy rules, i can't understand it at all as all members of the dog family, wolf, coyote, dingo, wild dog , bush dog, fox etc all hunt down and kill their prey with their teeth. i can't get my head round it at all, what about pet cats who excact totally vicious cruelties on little birdies and mice for God's Sake!!!!! Hello, what happened over there in Britain, what the feck indeed happened!!! Over here in the West of Ireland i have a lot of English neighbours who -
There is a IFAW link in Google ads at top of this page, and i checked it out and i was v offended and upset by the lies and bullshit. Why is offensive tripe on this site ?

Thank goodness wee bitch is ok, but start checking out for a genuine vet looking out for you and yourdog, asking you to come back is scandalous. Please check out a book called The Complete Herbal Handbook for Dogs by Juliette Baraclii Levy, available for under 16 euro on easons.ie, ..... A LIFESAVER in many ways, would certainly teach many vets someting been using it for 3 yrs , gave a lend to local vet too, it has changed a lot of things for us, most of all quality of first aid treatment for working dogs. That bitch basically needed fancy stitching and a feed of antibiotics, £239 is sicke

Thing is mate, did you Batter it or Bray it 'cos if you brayed it, techincally i'm right and Wilf is an also ran However if you battered it and didn't bray the c*nt, then Wilf is correct and i'm off to get my coat For goodness sake keep the friggin dog on a lead until you need her to go down the hole, ther's no need to have a good patt running loose especially if not wearing a location collar because is asking for trouble with a good dog. Actually its just asking to lose a dog. And battering it for coming back to you is daft!! battering it for trying to eat the hare is

Can you tell how big a dog will be?
tortoise replied to Clancy's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
When a pup's canine teeth top and bottom have all come in and grown to full length, your pup is full height for the breed or cross or what ever, any growth from now is generally outwards, width, weight and muscle Cheers -
Please excuse ignorance but how in ladybird guide for the simple do you train your terrier to be steady to a ferret bolting rats for them, have lovely ferret well behaved, rats well, doesn't bite generally comes when called when not busy, have selection of dogs, younger, older and am having little success getting dogs not try to kill ferret, have hunted mink with dogs is this problem? how do you do this help!!!!

Ah here .Kate that's very libelous stuff there, the jack x beagle out out of working stock on both sides is a busy careful little dog that doesn't roam as far beyond the horn as purebreds might and is perky and inquisite, not outright bowling as a purebred. In these parts permission to hunt is getting limited and a dog that is easier to call off and works closer to hand is more and more use. The Teagle, jack to beagle for rabbits generally and fell/ irish terrier to beagle for fox is a good nosed diligent careful dog less 'scatty' than pure bred beagles and a lot slower! Do not dismis

Hiya, celt tortoise here, I'm only new but I know a few things about stripping out hard coated dogs. Are you in Ireland too. You can get powdered chalk from most big petstores or a local petshop can order for you, if not try online petshops specialising in show dog supplie. It should be cheap and is handy but I don't use it. Very good is a coarse stripping knife from Mikki, Interpet, your petshop will have to order for you. Am I allowed to mention brand names here? I hope so, too late now but its the business. Have 2 very hairy fell terriers. Hope it helps

Glad I read the Text talking thing, I am a divil for that in emails. Hello everybody, I'm glad to be on the forum. live in Ireland, have fells, patterdales and beagles. Mostly hunt mink now. Used to hunt hares with beagles. Don't use beagles on mink, occasionally hunt fox with them. Beagling very difficult where am now, permission hard to get, places I can go are boggy, not great. So mink better. Anyway that's the basics.
