On a bit of a tight budget with Christmas round the corner so don't fancy paying a gunsmiths price , if I have to I will

just got in from work and spoke to the mrs because she spoke to the vet , the mrs asked how much for a vasectomy and the vet played about with her computer and said she would advise against the vasectomy and get the implant as its recommend , the implant last a few years and costs £55 . she wanted to speak to me but the mrs said I was working. so after all that we still didn't find out if she said £15 or not either way if it was I don't think ill use that vets because it sounds like shes never dealt with a ferret before because she kept looking everything up on her computer . I would rather lo

she might of read the wrong thing or couldn't find it so fobbed me off with a random number. like you say I don't want him castrated because he'll be no use to the jills then. i'll definitely do what you put about keep reminding them hes there for vasectomy

Can The Scent Of A Perticular Person Make Ferrets Aggressive
mybrainhurts replied to Foxhole's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
The girl who I got my kits off was working at the time so her fella gave them me , when he handed over the hob he said he's vicious but then had to do a double take cos the hob didn't even bat a eyelid and he said well he always goes for me. I mentioned this to her when I message'd her on facebook and she said to be honest all the ferrets attacked him even her main one who's soft as a brush would hiss and go for him. So maybe there's some truth in what you're saying . My smallest Jill who's tiny compared to the hob and quite a bit smaller than my other Jill is a right bitch always snapping at -
Cheers for the advice

As its getting close to bonfire night I was just wondering how ferrets react to fireworks going off , are they the ok with them or the same as other animals and go mental or does it scare them shitless ?? Only asking cos I live in a council estate and round this time of year it starts sounding like Beirut outside . My ferrets are in their hutch in the shed

The Most Important Thing I've Learnt
mybrainhurts replied to mybrainhurts's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
Yeah I've kinda f****d up there , am sure I've mentioned in another post that am not the sharpest knife in the draw so we'll let this one slip this time. but we all know what threads am on about -
I joined THL for advice and to learn about ferreting and ferret keeping . I've tried to use the search button as much as possible to save people answering the same question's over and over . I would like to say thanks to anyone who has answer any of my question's and thanks to OldTrapCollector for sending me some books. But the most important thing I've learnt on THL is never ever , even if you life depended on it , start a thread about pure eu polecats . I've read some of the threads and that shit escalates so quick !!

The eggs will once in a blue moon but the DOC's will most prob be once or twice a wk. I know a fella who goes shooting so am gonna see if he will pass me the odd woodie and hopefully when the ferrets are ready we'll catch a rabbit or too . I keep seeing people say about cat/kitten food but I'll stick to the one's made for ferrets , am new to keeping ferrets and I don't mind paying a bit extra if I have too. Thanks everyone for the advice , much appreciated

I just feed my ferrets the normal dry ferret food from the petshop and I've been thinking of giving them little treats so last night I gave them a couple of boiled eggs between them and I've just bought some day old chicks, and what I've read a couple of DOC's a week is ok as a treat but would that mean if I've gave them eggs one wk I can't give them the DOC's that week as treats I'll have to wait till next week ??
-
Cheers for the advice , well I've been feeding before handling them so their not trying to eat me and it's seemed to work . My hutch is in the shed so I go in and make sure the door is closed , pick the ferrets up one by one and place them on the floor and let them walk around while I put food in their bowl . Once I've done that I pick them back up and place them in the hutch. I take the dog for a walk which is about 45mins-1hrs . Then I go back in shed and let the ferrets have the run of the shed while I'll pick one up have a quick handle then place it down wait a few minutes till I pick anot

The kids love it and its so catchy !!

Maybe some of you could help this man out , he wants to know what noise a fox makes ?? Enjoy

Where it says "search" just type in ferrets or ferreting and you'll seen groups about ferreting or hunting in general . You'll most probably have to request to join the group cos there usually closed to public viewing . I think it's to see who's actually interested in hunting and who's a anti . Hope this helps

I still see some people offering ferrets on some facebook groups , pretty sure most of them are kits tho

Would you say finish work then feed the ferrets , give them a hour to fill up then handle them for say half hour ??
