  1. does anyone know owt about reloadind rifle rounds. equipment cost and the law ect.
  2. just sold my 17hmr gone back to a 22lr. yes the crack is loud even with a moderator. the rounds are 3 times the price of22lr they are useless in the wind. on the plus side they are very accurate due to the speed. but the rounds are very light. the last fox i shot was licking its gonads the round went streight through the top of its head out the roof of its mouth and bust its bottom jaw but it didnt seem to realise it had been shot. a second round went right through behind the front leg and out its chest and it still took a 3rd to drop it. so i would say go for the 22lr a 40g bullet is better
  3. my problem is i aint very good at putting down on here [bANNED TEXT] i mean. Also i learnt my ways 30 years ago and have to use and adapt [bANNED TEXT] i can find/borrow or buy on the cheap. hence siesel nets, home made rings, hazel wands privet pegs, but as ive said they work for me. and if a purse net rots 10p and 25mins and ive got a new one. bargin....
  4. wands hold the top line up. pegs do whot pegs do hold the bottom line down. 12 foot of net tied in evey 6ft by sewing into the top line useing 4oz nylon cord. then it can be as windy as it likes doesnt matter nowt to snag.
  5. i said square mesh long nets naturally have a top and bottom line. not that you dont have to have one if you add a heavy line i use the thick blue nylon cord you get in farm stores then tie in 12 feet of net every six feet you can get away without pegs just makes them a bit bulky but you can still fit a 50yrd net into a game bag. by the way i make the nets out of cheap sisel works for me.
  6. thought you said long nets were made in diamond mesh the other week when i mentioned square mesh!!!!!!
  7. i use the garden wire from wilkinsons if you use the medium diameter one its fine, comes in green plastic coated as well as plain silver
  8. Dont knock sisal, i make all my long and purse nets with it. it works for me, cheap, easy to knot and can be found in your local wilkinsons store.
  9. Mine aint. Mine are all square mesh made by myself. if you make them this way you dont need a top line it naturaly has one then if you use heavy line on the bottom it doesnt have to be pegged. make one try it then comment.
  10. i use 2 3/8 inch mesh. a net should entangle as well as purse. with this size mesh 15 meshes wide by 18 meshes deep gives you a thee and a half foot net. just out off interest long nets are not made using the diaganal method you make purse nets with they are made with the square mesh method that way they have a natural top and bottom line and hang properly when set. check out knotsindeed.com/learn/squaremesh it with give you some ideas

    jesse grease

neatsfoot oil works well but plain old vegatable oil from asda is just as good
  12. i have used horndy and remmington to be honest couldnt tell the difference both grouped the same both performed well on rabbit and the odd fox. i seem to remember reading somewhere that all 17 rounds are loaded by cci using a necked down 22magnum cart. and then just modified for each customer ie the polymer tip of horndy is red remmington is brown ect.
  13. times are hard. aint got much to say about other posts elsewhere, dont really need to show pictures or chat shit.
  14. yukon monocular with scope mount and extra i/r illuminator generation one 4 x mag and focus £150

  16. I cant be buyer and seller, you must have a price in your head, tell me that price and i will tell you if i want it or not, i cant be fairer then that! fetching £90 at coch-y-bonddu books but with the dust cover. i will take £70
  17. its a rare first edition. it didnt do well when it first came out because its quite a depressing read so not many were printed.

no problem feeding them at all. why wouldnt you feed the head? good protein in the brain and keeps the talons and beak in good condition getting in there plus keeps them busy for hours.
  23. i use both depends upon whot you are going to be doing most off. the .17hmr is very flat 2500fps good out to 150yrds very accurate can take a head shot nearly every time. but it has draw backs noise, wind drift and the cost of rounds. .22 brill with subsonics for lamping and the rounds are very cheap but prone to ricochet.
