A work colleague of mine died from it, I think he may of just put up with the initial symptoms thinking it was maybe flu.......the poor b*****d died on his own New Year's Eve.............it was a real wake up call about the environment we were all working in.

I personally wouldn't sell anything for profit someone has given me in good faith, I've had it happen to me (not a dog) & it leaves a bad taste in the mouth........ Buying & selling is a little different, it's hard to judge

f**k that, i onced asked to see a pic of the sire to a litter and it was way over 17" then i asked about the dam and it was bred by themselves therefore doesnt work and was only 2 yr old. They dont work the dogs they just import the odd working one, so now they breeding off non workers aswell, No nothing about them mate, just done a Uk search, when I read this thread, they said they hunted high & low.......that came up first attempt lol........

Few seasons back, I was out with the gos & put up a woodcock......the gos refused it :-(, as I watched the woodcock twist & turn into the woods, a spar came out & nailed it! Also had one fly into my kitchen while I was cooking, last summer....:-) they are the greatest!

Yeh it was very difficult at first where I lived, most land was keeperd & they don't like hawks, I got lucky with some people I met & it got better & better.....

If I take her to somewhere that has a few rabbits etc running around then I'm confident she will do ok. As you know the dales aren't what they were a few years back. We are having to use ferrets to provide rabbits for the hawk, something which I would never have had to contemplate just three years ago. Until the rabbits come back in numbers all I can do is try and get what we can. "Round the doors" is far worse though and very hit and miss, with so many lurchermen and lads with air rifles going after the same few bunnies it's hard work. In saying all of that I've made too many excuses this s

I think it's just personal choice, like the difference between men who like fells or Russell's or borders etc, I don't think anyone thinks their getting something better, just an alternative....... As for peddling pups, someone will do it, just as black dogs & smart lakie types have been peddled beyond belief for the last twenty years in the uk, by breeders we all know well.............when they start getting classes at the game fairs & picking up a few ribbons, sit back & watch the real peddling begin.....lol I'm sure there are plenty of genuine lads who want to test them &

I say each to their own mate, if you wanna try it, why not? They'll always be someone give you all the obvious reasons why you shouldn't, at least with a harris you don't have to worry too much about the feathers....... What I will say is.......despite the reasons regarding the bird, I think it's good for the falconer to have a break, & come back with renewed enthusiasm in September....

I flew one til may, a male, but he was a very late bird, not ready until February so hence the late flying.........he then moulted out normally & I was back out in September. Thing is, all they do is pick off the young stuff cos it's easier......unless you car hawk corvids maybe.... Why do you want to do it mate?
