  1. Get a gos mate! Lol the weather becomes a lot less of an issue.........they fly better in the wind & aren't so 'sponge like'
  2. I'd have to agree with you.....that if you can, then you should fly more than once.........but the point was really what can be achieved when you have limited time...... Bob.W at that time mainly hunted at field meets only, hence the 1 or 2 times a week.............what was even more mental, is the fact that he didn't trade off when the bird caught.........he was unpicking the birds talons off the hare!! It go's against every thing you learn or think is right lol.........but still this hawk is one of the best hare hawks out there.......
  3. I would say your long term success at Hares will be based more on your speed at running than your hawks footing ability........are you very fat? Lol I went on a couple of field meets with the south easy falconry club, a guy there, Bob.W has a well known hare hawk........I went twice in January, fist time I went, his female harris caught 3 January hares, the second time she caught two......the rest of the field were other female Harris's, a large female gos & a golden eagle......none of these caught anything, despite many hares flown & contact by each & much running by the falconer
  4. Yeh I've had that when hawking................& that was my own brother lol
  5. Most people don't get it, my neighbour was offering me left overs from Sunday lunch lol & a lot were surprised when I said I fed raw meat.....
  6. I had a neighbour who was bit too keen on the hawk as well, but keeping a good relationship with the neighbours makes life so much easier, what did they feed her?
  7. You did well to stay calm mate.
  8. Nice thread & great pics, my dad's main thing was coursing, from the 60's up to 1980, he coursed throughout the 70's on the fens, mainly with a settled traveler called Arthur Grey & various other characters/travellers, I loved hearing his stories from this time..........he had various running dogs, but his best by far, was a big fawn dog, Shem, out of a bitch my dad put to Linden Ealand, my earliest memories are of being in the back of vans with these dogs & hares :-) We left the country in 1980 & he had to sell his coursing dogs, he reckoned he cried on the way home when he p
  9. This is not a dig, but a genuine question............why is the fate of the working Plummer supposedly so tied in with committees & club protocol? Surely individuals who are genuine about producing working stock can act independently? I know nothing of the situation with these dogs & I'm not a club type of person, so it seems an alien concept to me, that a working dogs future can be so governed by committees.......
  10. That was part of my depravity......

    Troy

Oh ok, I've missed it, anything like dynamo?
  12. I've been around a 3/4 grown one, they seem to tame really well, but take it for granted.........& they soon remind you they're wild......
  13. Oh so sensible!..........I'd just f**k it all up on non stop depravity...........until the final £50k & then put a deposit down on a nice bungalow & wallow in self loathing ;-)
  14. I got my first catapult after reading this section too..........my wife was also a little bemused, but once I said it 'might' put some food on the table one day, she warmed to the idea......

  19. I got a le creuset one a few months ago & it's by far the best pan I've used.
  20. I eat a mcd's meal every day! But then i'm always out walking or on the bike. It's about 5 miles cycling from here to work and back, and i do about 4 miles walking with the dogs a day as well. Keeps it right When you sit in front of Jeremy Kyle all day and only pop out for 10 cheeseburgers, then you've got an issue No matter what exercise you do, shite is shite........pure & simple........If I eat one a year it's too much lol
