  3. i remember reading a case up north on the internet where a man in manchester got prosecuted for trapping a rat live in a cage trap and releasing it for his young pup to learn the trade, things are shocking at the moment
  4. if you spay a collie they go huge, can't get the weight off my nans one she's 10, i'd try a muzzle mate and see how you get off
  5. Bought a Bedlington pup the other day lads, 15 months old, bushing but hasn't seen anything else, had him out yesterday after work and he flew through thick brambles and bolted a rabbit. Well happy with him, anyone on here work Beddies and have any advice?

  16. cracking read, i can't wait for september now to get out with my young bitch
  17. hardest thing about this cross these days is finding a staffie with the right prey drive, most are pets bred to look a certain way and not to hunt prey
  18. according to a book by the late Brian Plummer, Whippets before the second world war weren't short of fire and such a cross wouldn't be needed, certain kennels may have tried to X these breeds but i can't see the dogs keeping they're speed and agility, what Phil Drabbie book are you reffering too? wouldn't mind reading it myself big fan on Staffies
  19. i've only ever seen one Staff X out in the field, and it isn't any good for legal quarry, but this was a big built type and not the racey type you've described
  20. got a 600m beam that should be plenty for rabbits
  21. if you double up one dog is turning the rabbit, the other is catching the rabbit, for a young dog this can give loads of bad habbits, not just hard mouth but running in the beam. i wouldn't double up on any quarry
  22. get her ferreting, she'll have a taste for them then
  23. docking the ail is handy for bushing terriers, isn't that the purpose, very interesting job Matt, do you know of any papers published with facts etc in regards to the owl populations and rodenticides?
  24. A 'hobby' Twenty five years a professional You see, you've made a serious error there, Barn Owls are in fact one of the most seriously effected species, along with kestrels. The bait kept down permanently for rats is actually being eaten by small mammals, like woodmice and fieldmice, which are in turn being predated by Barn Owls and Kestrels. For many years now, residues of rodenticides have been found in liver samples taken from dead birds. There is very little actual evidence that these residues are causing deaths, but the BoP lobby have made as much of it as they can.
