  1. a dash of collie would be handy for this type of dog, always willing to please their owner, anyone work a collie whippet or has seen one in the field?
  2. even if you take down the kennel or burn it i'd still jeyes fluid everywhere
  3. 14.5" he's spannable too, i've had a few rats with him he's coming on well, chuffed with him so far
  4. He's got 2 cocks mate....... yeah he's a bit of a boy see
  5. if he was any good he would have been down it In a lot of cases id agree, yet some terriers mature more slowly than others and a dog that shows no interest to enter, especially if its un-educated,will thrive a few months down the line. The best fox dog i have here now showed little interest in earth work until it was 2 1/2 years old,a lot of people said to get rid before it was 2 years old,im glad i trusted my insticts, ive a Lakey here that was bolting fox,s at 12 months.Bedlingtons have an habit of being late developers, move the dog slowly along, give it every opportunity to develop and do
  6. i've got 2 12 amp batteries at the moment, but i'm trying to get funds to go lithium
  7. i've had a 23" saluki bull greyound take one pre ban
  8. yeah she's a good dog like that, i take her camping alot and if anyone comes near the tent at night she's like a proper saluki and lets me know about it, i found it strange that my brother can lamp rabbits with her but can't call her back in day
  9. my Saluki bull greyhound bitch is 2 year old, she's always been my dog since a pup, while im in work sometimes my brother walks the dogs for me. my other 2 dogs ( a bedlington terrier and saluki greyhound) listen to him fine off the lead, but my bitch won't come back to him. she recalls perfect for me and comes back to my brother when lamping, anyone got any advice as to get her to listen to him?
  10. any pictures mate? (pre ban of course)
  11. i'm chuffed with him pal, great little bushing dog, going to take him ratting once this weather calms down
  12. that's what i was thinking, the 210 has an 800 metre beam, and the 170 a 600m this is the lamp im thinking about getting http://www.deben.com/tracer-sport-lights/sport-light-170-vp.html
  13. im thinking about buying the deben 170 variable power end of this month, definitely use a 14 ah battery though, i'm still debating whether to get the 210 or the 170 anyone think that 210 is too big? i think 600 metre beam is big enough for a few rabbits for the pot so im leaning towards the 170
  14. have you got the link for that video? wouldn't mind seeing the dog in action
  15. You are only just getting into it but already you are an expert!! sounds about right.. The best ratting for terriers imo is when they have to work a bit for them. I mean by marking a tube whilst you dig along it,showing you the right direction. Terriers have a chance to show off there brain with rats, numbers is technique and wind alone. Ive seen all types including Great Danes doing a good job of rats..Its not about competition. That has been made illegal along time ago. I read it has a positive article for hunting and has for bragging about the plummer, well we all think our own are the best
  16. i prefer terriers for the job, my bedlington does a great job for me, but it does depend on the ground that you work on, a spaniel might be better if their are loads of buries around as it's less likely to go to ground
  17. my bedlington has only just entered to rat but if all goes well with some permission i have lined up he should come on well. have you been out with the man from the paper? or have you seen his dog in action?
  18. that mans an idiot calling his dog a world beater because it has 400 rats a year, i've seen lads get more than that in one night! im only just getting into the ratting game, but i'd put my bedlington against that terrier any day
  19. i knew of one was apparenly a demon on rabbits, was a very young dog. i didn't see it run but a mate did and said it was great for short distance slips
  20. yesterday he flew through cover and my lurcher was going mad, i went in myself it was reall thick, only to find him marking a fox set. i have permission to dig but i will wait until september or october. hopefullly he will bolt it to gun for me
  21. nothing beats mooching around on your local farm lads might bush out some quarry with the terriers and give your lurcher a good run at the same time
