In all due respect irishnut I disagree the .17 HMR has fallen to many a fox on my permission.
It's all about sub 100 yard sensible shots. Again my opinion
It cost me £130 and the quality is unreal. Yet iv not used it for lamping yet.
I'm going to get a .22wmr and bang a second hand 8x56 on it for low light iv decided.
Does any one know much about these scopes?
Iv just one off a certain bidding site on impulse for my .17 HMR at a good price.
It's a 6x42, kind of worried it's not going to be good for low light stuff at up to 100 yards only now.
Everything has a place, every tool has it pros and cons.
I'm very privileged to have a good gun collection and everything has it's benefits.
I'd say go FAC thou it opens a whole new world
Go FAC!
I spent years with sub 12, banged FAC air on my ticket and now never looked back.
Currently have a 30ft/lb Daystate MK4 IS and a 100ft/lb .303 Wolverine
If you do go that way be sure to put all FAC calibre's I wish I'd put .25 and .20 on now
I think it's pretty much self explanatory really. .17 HMR is for sub 100 yards.
.243 is for 100yards plus etc.
You wouldn't try and snipe at 1km with a 9mm hey
Iv just brought one. It's out of this world, destroys anything air rifle quarry ish.
I ordered some hollow tip 55gr pellets from the states. They use them for Coyote to great affect.
I'll post pictures soon
Would do the job, but try and get it conditioned for fox, properly no chance. Best just snare or trap, your aloud one swift clean blow to the head to dispatch.
Daystate Wolverine in my county is conditioned for Fox
Do you know what it's bloody nice to see youngsters (no offence by that lads I know I hated being called a youngster when I was your age) taking up field sports and being bloody sensible with it.
