Dealing With Fleas On Shot Meat
Matthew Phillips replied to Matthew Phillips's topic in Living Off The Land & Game Cooking
I guess thats why they were soon bad last night. We drove round the farms for a few hours in the rain. After shooting each rabbit came into a carrier bag in the car, no option to leave them hang. The dog had milbermax, stronghold and bravectomo. Each monthly. -
So guys, How do you propose i best deal with the fleas? I usually leave the jackets on but paunch in the field. Then i put them in the outdoor fridge overnight usually till next day hen i have some time to do them. But what really gets to me is the fleas. Some rabbits are literally crawling with them, it makes me itch like hell and i worry that the dog will bring them into the house. Other than skinning in the field what tips do you have for getting rid of the fleas? Thanks in advance

Depending on size of the course it might be worth doing a good job then looking to apply for a rimfire. 100 yard rabbits re more fun than 30 yard rabbits.

Electric Dog Training Collars.

And further to back my argument up, buy something of decent quality and reliability and it will not harm your dog. This is the collar I use, on the low setting battery life is phenomenal! -
Electric Dog Training Collars.

Likewise. I bought this one after i could not call my terrier off a chase. Rabbits, deer, hare, you name it....he was after it. In the first few months of using it the dog has transformed. He no longer goes on a lead. I take him most places with me. What's important is that it shouldn't 'shock' the dog, it should be used to break the dogs focus of something else. (I use mine on 11 out of 100) For me the way i used it, if the dog was chasing something i would shout NO, if he didn't listen i would press the transmit button. The next time he chased something i would shout NO, if he reacte -
Don't wish to go off topic but you say you already have a bipod, why not just go for a longer bipod? I use a Harris 25" bipod. Like this one here: http://www.harrisbipods.com/HB25S.html Kneeling shots are fine then.

4X4 Vehicle With Good Mpg?
Matthew Phillips replied to Matthew Phillips's topic in 4x4's, Quads & ATV's
Right so i got myself a VW tiguan in the end, went for the escape model as it has a better approach angle and underbody protection. Taken it down the farm on a wet day and it handles well, even with road tyres. Very pleased with it, and the 47-50mpg it returns on the motorway. :-) -

Hi guys, If i part ex my rifle in a shop for a rifle of the same caliber can i do this in one day? Or do i have to take mine in, apply to police for removal from my license, then go back to shop when license comes back and collect new rifle? The reason i ask is that my police force is utter sh!te in doing anything (currently 7weeks and still waiting on some land to be cleared for 22lr). In theory if i sell the old rifle to the shop, remove it from my ticket, then the same day take the new one off them. So i never actually end up owning two rifles at once... or is that not how it works.

I wouldn't be shooting a 22lr in your garden if it's only 24yards long. You got an open ticket?

My 10/22T works great with Remington Subsonics, at £7 a box of 100 I'm pleased :-) Eley shot well but were CRAP in the action, they are covered in junk and just make a sticky mess. My only problem is my remington 597 22wmr doesn't shoot like the 10/22 in 22lr :-(

Richter Or Hawke Scope?
Matthew Phillips replied to G Salmons's topic in Shooting Equipment & Accessories
Avoid the richter. I had one years ago, it was crap so I took it back. The eye piece was that loose the crosshairs would change point of impact. Utter junk -

Guys, Making a homemade smoker and am using vegetable oil. Only issue is that I can seem to stop the oil from lighting. It also just keeps dripping out the end. Any ideas what could be wrong?

I think he means spot on for the retical (multiple aim points).

Diesel money? Skin and gut the rabbits and sell them at £1.50 a pop

4X4 Vehicle With Good Mpg?

Has my wife been speaking to you? -
I've had this problem on a shoot in the past. I've explained to people that with shotguns and rifles we need to be sure of where people are on the land. I always shoot away from public foot paths, and should they veer off the footpath i might be shooting in their direction unknowingly. It's also aggravated trespass for the to stop you doing what you're lawfully doing, so if they want to bitch about it just go down that route. I've turned people around and marched them back in the past, or warned them that i'll let my dog off the lead to interact with their dog, which can usually result in
