Haha, I thought exactly the same about mine. They won't win any beauty parades but they're sturdy and they've survived a few trips out into the field. It's the thought what counts mate lol, my little twigs do the trick and I've got spares in shed haha ?

I'll not embarrass myself by uploading pictures of my pathetic attempt after seeing others lol, some quality looking sticks guys ?

I use home made shooting sticks mate, all you need is some cane from DIY shop / garden centre, an old bike innertube, and installation tape, very cheap and easy to make, I watched a video on THL a while back. I've got some small ones which are ok for prone etc, but I recently made some more for standing which are loads better. Can't fault them, I use with air rifle, rimfire and centrefire

I've started cleaning rifles each time I've been out, just my preference. I run a patch soaked in copper solvent through barrel, leave for 15 mins then run dry patches until clean. I then spray some degreaser through barrel and catch at other end with paper towel, I then run patches through until clean again. Then I put a patch through soaked with lubricant and run a dry patch after and store in cabinet. Doesn't take me long now I've got into routine, I do this with rimfire and centrefire.

Chapping Doors Any Tips
Tornado1979 replied to Plummerterrier's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Only advise I can offer is to be polite, professional, and be prepared to deal with some rude people and plenty of rejection. If you've not got insurance I would strongly recommend. Don't go in hunting gear with rifle on shoulder, the land owner won't appreciate john Rambo stood on his front door I had good results with flyers, if the owner said no I'd kindly ask if I could leave a flyer for future reference, some people don't like people knocking on doors and digest info after you've left, I've been rejected by one farmer, left flyer and received a call 3 weeks after. I also sent ema- 1 reply

Think I'll stick with the compact one then mate, didn't know about steyr version. Is £195 the going rate ? That's about right. I think I paid £200. Good choice of mod IMO. Cheers mate, can't wait to get it fitted not been out with it since zeroing in, way too bloody loud. -

P8 Moderator - Standard Vs Compact

Thanks for info mate ? -
Just ordered a P8 for my .223, I was presented with standard version or compact. I've asked about performance between both and was given different info of two people.... 1. The standard with provide you with better performance (less noise) than compact model. 2. You will not notice any different with .223 on either models, only on big calibre's. I've ordered the compact from preference with length, but I'm now questioning info I was given, and if the standard will make much difference with reducing noise ? Any info would be appreciated lads ?

Cheers mate, and were trying a red wine sauce today, we tried in slow cooker last week, but the wife used juices for gravy and it was but too much, still tasty though. Mines a 14" barrel, but I got a good deal off a friend who's packed in so let all his gear go cheap.

Two more bunnies this morning after a steady walk round one of my permissions with the old faithful Anchutz, the more I use this gun the more I love it I'm still smiling with one of the shots, it was approx 90yards, I shot of my home made shooting sticks which I'll be using more often from now on. With majority of my time spent on this permission with an air rifle I've got into the habit of having to get within 30/40 yards so it was a satisfying shot in an area I struggle to get close to without spooking in centre of land under a large tree. Tried some crow decoying after with bunnies opene

When I got my rimfire it come with some Winchester subs 40g, only ones I've used since and never had any issues ?

Well I've now potentially lost another permission due to waiting for land checks, with the land being in Nottinghamshire and not south Yorkshire, I've been getting passed to and from departments for last few month, I received a call from Nottinghamshire yesterday and they can't get out to check land for another two weeks due to sickness issues within the department. How do you all get on with land checks ? and land checks in different area's ? The lady I spoke to more or less said the land is not suitable over the phone by looking at Google maps, looking at the acres only, it's a smal

Gun Protection When Out In Rain????
Tornado1979 replied to GEOFF.223's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I've always used ballistol and I've never had any issues mate, usually quick rub down with cloth coated in it when I get home. -
I've only purchased it for a foot stool Got bore guide and cleaning rod on route too + every cleaning fluid known to man. Watch this space. Ah...but have you got the special cleaning cloth? It LOOKS like a 30 year old Led Zeppelin teeshirt with stains and holes under the arms, but is in fact what the pros use. I can let you have one for £50. Can I order 2 mate, will they improve accuracy off my rifle ? Haha ?
