  1. I'm on late shift tomorrow mate so I'm going to go and check the howa range out in the flesh at local shop and see if there's any 2nd hand bargains knocking about, browsing the internet there doesn't seem to be many .223's for sale second hand. I'm like a little kid at christmas, once the ticket comes I'll be grabbing first one I see lol, it's why I want to try and plan before it comes, i'd love to be putting tikka into my gun safe but it would then be sat there for 3 month waiting for scopes and mod, or I could cancel christmas this year, i'm sure the wife and kids would understand
  2. I'll check the CZ 527 out later mate, I'm after any decent solid rifle to be honest around £1000 price bracket. Appreciate all your advice, the Howa package does interest me I just thought if the quality was much better on the tikka I wouldnt of minded waiting till more funds were available. I'll let you know what a end up with mate but ill defo check the CZ out :-)
  3. Im off to check them out tomorrow, I really want the tikka t3 varmint stainless but would not be able to afford scope cheapest I can get it for is £990 then tikka mounts etc £150 and wildcat Mod £190 way out if my budget but might be worth the wait... Or the £900 for full Howa set up, I'm sure once I see them in flesh I'll decide. Out of curiosity why a Varmint and why stainless? You don't have to spend anything like £150 on Tikka mounts, look around, and check out Sportsmatch... CentrefireSet 002cccaEdit.jpg I got the Optilock first and then the Sportsmatch, NEVER again will I

  5. Just called another dealer locally to check what brands, he's mentioned about good deal on Howa hunter .223, including sonic mod, £200 scope, bipod, carry case, spare mag and rifle sling £900 ? From reading some reviews tikka were my number one option at my price range but is there much difference ?
  6. Suppose your right mate, only thing which was pushing me towards .17HMR for now was the cost. Mod I wanted for .223 was £250 and then decent scope, I'm sure I'll be able to fiddle my finances though. Hopefully the postman will have my ticket today :-)

  8. I've been looking about internet, the package did have mounts too but that was it mate. Can you recommend any good sites ? I'm going to visit a couple more shops this week too, I'm still on fence which calibre to get first out of the .17HMR and .223, seen a nice tikka T3 but would finish my bank balance off this month. Decisions, decisions, decidions.... I have never dealt with this lot so this is not a specific recommendation, but I'd say they are worth a look/phone call! http://www.czrifles.co.uk/ As I first mentioned, there will be few RFD who will not consider an off

  10. Thanks for the info mate, I'm going to call him and double check the model tomorrow, I know it's a night eye and i've seen them online for £114 for one model, couldn't spend too much time in shop I had the wife waiting in car with stop watch on lol.
  11. Well i'm still waiting for my ticket so just window shopping for now..... I've got a friend saving me Anschutz .22 1417, but I still need to get a .223 + .17HMR, I'll only be able to afford one more at the minute and I've been to have a look around my local gun shop and fell in love with a CZ american ZKM 452 .17HMR, it's up for sale as a package with sak mod + hawke scopes for £600. Is this a good deal ?? or would i be best purchasing separate And what does the ZKM stand for, I'm guessing it's just model number ??
  12. Went for a walk this morning over two of my permissions, I didn’t take the gun, I just wanted to check some parts of the permissions out ready for when my ticket arrives and I collect my new guns , I’ve always worked the land with the air rifle so wanted to double check everything. Glad I went, when I got into 3rd field it was water logged really bad which was very unusual even with big downpours (glad I had my bloody wellies on), I inspected to see what was going off and a water pipe the owner had going through centre of the hedge to all the outside taps had snapped at one of the join
  13. Sounds like a plan mate, I've just emailed mike earlier, the tunnels look quality and not a bad price. Once my ticket arrives and I collect gun I'll give you a shout :-)
  14. Seen some for £14.99 which says you re-charge in oven, I had to read it twice lol, might have to treat myself to some
  15. Even more places to inspect, thanks alot for info mate... like the sound of the pipe range
  16. Thanks for that mate, I'll do some digging too sounds good
  17. haha i'll be going mad after a month Shame you can't pay for a super fast service like with passport be worth £100 or maybe £200 haha Nice one mate at least your sorted, i'm not jelous (honestly) Happy shopping, i'm just waiting for a friend to collect money for my gun which he's saving for me until my ticket arrives. and i'm sure the kids will understand
  18. That's brilliant mate thanks, don't mind travelling for a decent set up, I'll have a look after work today. Thanks again :-)
  19. Does anyone know any decent shooting ranges i'd be able to use for zeroing and some extra practise off the field in the Doncaster, South yorkshire area with Rimfire / Centrefire ?? i'd also like a idea of cost, i.e. do you have to be a member or can you pay one off payment each visit. My tickets not arrived yet but want to be prepared, i've got some permissions I can use for zeroing but would also like to do at range on occasions
  20. I pay monthly with direct debit mate...£7 each month hassle free with BASC
  21. Thanks for quick reply Paulus and Deker, puts my mind at rest.
  22. Yesterday I was having a browse through “Bushwear” website and noticed within the gun safe section some items to prevent condensation, mildew, and rust…. Silca gels etc. Is this a massive problem or does it depend on the safes location etc? I’ve fitted my brattonsound safe to an internal wall in one of my rooms upstairs. It would be good to get your thoughts and experience on the matter, I’ve not had the pleasure of storing a gun in it yet, I’m still waiting for my ticket to arrive.
  23. Thanks mate... I've since managed to get sorted, RUAG in cornwall came to my rescue with all info I needed and what parts etc, brilliant service and part was with me next day
