Been Given This 12Ltr Bottle
alex.mc replied to Andy_c's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Have a look at best fittings, they do a load of stuff including gauges and connector blocks etc. -
Hi Stuart, I have an X2 as well, and tried a lot of pellets through it. Your gun may differ from mine of course, but I found H&N FTTs the best so far through it. AA fields were good, JSBs the same, but the FTTs were a definite cut above the rest for me. The added bonus is that I can swap to the H&N Hunter Extreme pellets as well for added thwack without having to worry about bedding in the barrel etc. As I said, your gun may differ, but if you've not tried them stick some FTTs through it and see what you get after a few magazines? Pro's........ heavy hitter, devastating at close ranges! Con's....... Trajectory! It would appear that 25 yards is the limit realistically, beyond that the loopy trajectory means learning some very big holdovers. If it was FAC though.....?

Brocock Concept Super6

A case for one of those "In tube" regulators I would have thought? -
I've got both the jacket and trousers of this. My observations are... it's not silent! But it's okay, fleece stuff would definitely be quiet. It's warm! Better suited to cooler conditions really. It's definitely waterproof! I went arse over tit in a big massive muddy puddle and in my efforts to keep the gun up and out of the water I got prettey wet and muddy on knees and elbows! Little more than a hint of dampness got though, and it was a pretty stern test! There are plenty of pockets! The arms are a little short I think? But my arms are long! Fort the money they're great! It's che

Just goes to show that CCTV can be used as defence as well as prosecution. I bet they're glad they've got the footage! You've really got to wonder about the father? Most 6 year old boys would piss on the seat and floor 50% of the time who ever they belong to...... it's a part of growing up! The correct, adult response to being told would have been to say "Oh crap! Sorry about that, I'll go and sort it out now!" And maybe a quiet word with the boy to say he should try a little harder to keep it clean next time. We put a stop to that kind of stuff with our lad by making him personally cl

Ever Felt Uneasy About A Permission?

Good quote! Like it! -
I would reinforce what Si said, don't remove the bodies. As he said there are often several about if you can see one. Couple of weeks back I had two within 3 feet of each other. My gun is pretty silent as as the first one keeled over and kicked a bit before expiring, the other one ran over to it and nicked it's food! It only really took me as long as was needed to carefully pull the bolt and reload before it was kicking too! As above, they are tough little critters though. And often a good headshot will sometimes result in quite a bit of kicking before they go still. I'm always ready to r

Ever Felt Uneasy About A Permission?

Just go and shoot I'd say. You can always keep in mind what you have been told, and see how it goes? If you do your stuff properly, and keep everything open and straight then there'll be nothing to use against you will there? After a couple of months I'm sure you find out who was telling porkies or not? If the landowner's straight about everything, I'd keep mum and be happy to have the shoot. If it looks like the other guy was right, then you can either just be very careful, or carefully retreat and stop shooting there? -
I think you've missed the point here mate! There is endless enjoyment to be had in pointing out to the missus how far away things are to the nearest metre or yard! Repeatedly! :-) It's a useful tactic, eventually she'll say "I don't care how far away the bloody greenhouse is..... go shooting or something won't you!" So yes..... you really need one!

I have a Hawke LRF 400 and it's great. No problems reading distance even in light rain. The only thing that can fox it is swaying foliage. I have had it reading to 395 metres as well, only 350 metres more than I need!

Heat the bottom coils up over your cooker gas ring and then collapse a coil or two with pliers.... That should do it. Don't forget to polish the ends of the spring with wet and dry and then autosol to a mirror finish to smooth the shot cycle!

Miles Johannesburg's Fantasy Life And Lies Exposed
alex.mc replied to zini's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Phil, I completely understand the ying and yang aspect of friendship. I've had friends who would be seen as completely incomaptible with me and my outlook, yet something makes you look beyond those things. Sometimes, we come to the end of what binds two people together, and that's just that. I've had a number of friends in the past who seem hell bent on self destruction. Sometimes... often in fact, there is nothing you can do to change them. They just need to take the path they choose. It looks like he's chosen his, leave him to it I'd say. Life's too short... -

I think if you are a generous person, which plainly you are... then you must accept that every now and again you will be taken in by someone who doesn't deserve your kindness. Ignore it! Because if one out of ten is like that... the other nine will have known what you did and benefitted from your generosity. -
If I were 14 and did that... and got a massive bollocking off my old man for it..... I'd probably hate him just a little for the embarrassment of it, hate myself a little for doing it in the first place, and rememeber to never do it again! Then I would live through my teens and twenties and then one day actually grow up and realise my Dad was right to bollock me for that! And I would be thankful that I still had all my digits intact, and be facially free of pellets..... and realise I had a good, well considered take on safety around guns. I would then endeavour to teach my children to be

Which Range Finder?

Another vote for the LRF400. Mine happily reads 380/395 too. -
I damaged two squirrels yesterday..... terminally! I spotted them feeding, and slotted the first. The second spotted his mate kicking for a few seconds and then still... and then hopped over to nick his grub! Shortly after there were eight legs all pointing skywards within two feet of each other. Very efficient animals squirrels, but very destructive too.

I met a 16 year old kid some years back who suffered severe epilepsy. Violent, thrashing, danger to himself stuff. He had an operation and they removed 25% of his brain mass. I saw him about 4 months after the op, and he was fine but had slurry speach. I saw him again about one year later and you could not tell that he sufferred any problems whatsoever. Perfect speech, bright, alert, normal kid! And the bonus was he'd had a massive reduction in fitting and they were much reduced in their severity. Brains are very clever but odd things! I like the suggestion about "preloaded" reactions. I

They seem an awful lot of money for a bit of plastic? The profit margin must be huge! -
I checked the stores in Bournemouth and Warminster by putting them in as my local store, and lo and behold... the NV appears in the offers section! Checked all my local stores within a 20 mile radius...... nothing! So.... if it appears in the offers section for your local store then you're in luck, otherwise it's back to cluless Lidl staff. I've decided to continue on slowly with my own NV project with an old but good Sony camcorder, but I did go and get one of the wildlife cams. Just learning how it operates, seems pretty decent for the money.

It was from the horses mouth as well! It seems like they have no idea of there own stock control? I'd best get myself down the local Lidl then........ just in case? If they don't I quite fancy one of the wildlife cams, as it's cheap enough to leave in position an not worry too much about. I quite fancy leaving it in place at a warren I know of to see what the movement times are there?
