One of mine started doing it when he developed EPI, I asked the vet and she said that he was doing it to remove his own scent - a sort of survival tactic when they aren't too well

Thanks everyone, I know Rob (Freyas owner) is overwhelmed with the support. Had an interesting conversation yesterday and was told how a week or so before, the same police who made the decision to shoot Freya had their hands smacked and came into alot of critisism for not speaking to the owner of a Pitbull that was wandering free when it attacked another dog, only for it to drag its owner across a wall a few days later and attack another animal. Makes you wonder if the police overreacted because of this incident and poor Freya took the brunt of it.

EPI in German Shepherds - Help Please!
Shepherdess replied to Shepherdess's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
My dog isnt keen on the Pancrex either and I cant stand the smell - its makes the whole house smell like cat pee (very unpleasant), I think the liquidated raw pigs pancreas actually has more of an effect on my dog anyway and im lucky enough to have a farm shop that sells it within 5 minutes of me. I was told to add it to the soft dog food (Chappie, due to its reduced fat content) rather than the complete dry food which is all he is use to , so for now im having to feed him by hand to encourage him - its a messy procedure but worth it and not half as smelly as the Pancrex. -
It would be a bloody miracle if it did! The idea of the petition is to present to the police/solicitor to show public opinion, im sure none of the people that own working dogs, or any other sort of animal that is lost/runaway, would like this sort of action by the Police to become a precedence. Im sure the owner would like to thank you for your support by signing

Hi, just a quick note to say that the link to the Freya petition is live http://www.police-shoot-dog.co.uk Please note that the images are disturbing, so can I advise caution if there are kiddies near your PC

He had only had the dog a few hours, he had just picked it up and brought it home, it escaped out of the car door when someone that was with him got out. Anyway some good news, ive spent ages on the phone to the reporter that was responsible for writing the article in the local paper, i've explained that alot more information has come to light which shows that parts of the original article were incorrect, eg the dog biting someone, the fact that dog wardens had tried to catch the dog etc.... He is really interested in the story and is now planning to rewrite it with a totally different ang

Just a quick note to say that the pigs pancreas had an almost immediate effect - one happy owner! -
I cant believe the papers have run this story and got all the basic facts wrong. I spoke to Freyas owner lastnight for quite some time getting the facts for this website we are setting up and they seem to have everything wrong. No one has mentioned that the very experienced dog wardens were stood there waiting to go in and capture her and that they were quite happy to do this, no one has mentioned that the Police actually told them to go away, and what the Police thought that they were doing trying to send a Dog handler and German Shepherd into the cemetery god only knows. I think the reaso

Forums are always a difficult one to run because you have to draw a line somewhere, but its getting the level right to please everyone without upsetting others thats the difficult bit. Its also nice to to be aware of what the general guidelines are, for example you stated about the rasicm comments, most sites would not allow that, so without strict guidelines the content can sometimes end up a list of what the moderators views are. Ive only been on this site for a few days but it seems well run and fair. Admittedly my sites are of a very different nature so you kind of expect alot of banter -

Thanks for that Dawn. Im hoping that the pigs pancreas work, although the dog backed away from them and got in a bit of a strop when i let him have a sniff - never seen him behave like that before - very odd! Found an interesting and down to earth webpage about EPI, I'll put the link below - it maybe of use to someone else Thanks again Dawn http://www.ellsbury.com/cheetahfaqs.htm -

Hiya, I dont know what business you are in so I dont know what sort of site you would be needing but for your webspace I would recommend www.hostgator.com - their hosting packages are very good value, you get loads of bandwidth for a small amount each month and their online support is excellent. For buying domain names I use www.1and1.co.uk - you can get a co.uk site name for £1.99 a year (min 2 year) and their control panel features are excellent. Give me a shout if you need anymore info Good luck with the venture!

--> QUOTE(Dawn B @ Jun 13 2007, 03:30 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sorry to hear about your Dog. Not sure about the Pigs pancreas, but the powder can be pricey, may I ask what the Vet charged you and for what size? The vet charged me £60 for 250g although I know its available on the net for about £45...... why do you ask, can you get it cheaper? thanks. I've now got a freezer full of pigs pancreas now - anyone hungry? -
Im with SJM and LB, Rampant sex.... and who needs a hangover for a reason! Unless you had your beer goggles on the night before and it would mean having rampant sex with the pig that you have woken up with, in that case, throw the pig out, have 2 paracetamol then its down to the pub to pick up one thats not soooo piglike for the rampant sex..... SORTED!

Just looking for the script to use, I think I can get one that is like a guestbook - would that do? I can host it on the net for you and I have some domain names floating about somewhere, but you may prefer to get one of your own (www.petitionforFreya.co.uk) for example.... have a look on www.1and1.co.uk for an available and suitable name and let me know what you have decided - I'll buy it for you and set it up aslong as you run the damn thing!
