This is more important than you may imagine, its not the weight as much as the actual bullet length, the twist rate may not be fast enough to stabilise longer bullets, like nosler bt`s for example they require a twist rate quicker than 1:10 .

American Eagle Hollow Points Not Dropping Foxs ¿
rimmer replied to GEOFF.223's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
with 100yrd zero i can aim mid shoulder out to just over 250 and drop em every time. but if the truth is known 70 to 160/70 is the normal ranges i take them at if i think i may be taking long shots i will zero at 200 but its not my favoured zero cos i find it hard it a f**ker to get an inch group at that range. My ammo is home loaded so i have the advantage of changing the load to suit my needs. Ditch the 1" high rubbish mate it will make you a better rifleman. -
Good public relations!!!!!!! I know what call him next time i ring lol.

American Eagle Hollow Points Not Dropping Foxs ¿

Non your right i was just thinking if you were taking them on at distance then that inch can grow. but i think your right the hollow point will not expand like a soft point or BT this will be even truer at longer ranges. and the beastie could well run on if it gets a through and through. Deker is right about the Zero thing, quiet a few people seem to have caught the fashion bug rubbish about an 1" high zero at 100yrd, for the life of me i cant see the advantage of that, i do contract work for defra and none of the other contractors that i know zero any of their rifles at anything else than de -

Geoff i think you may find if you zero at 1.5 high at 100yrd with that ammo your zero wont be 220yrd, which may be why your missing, you can take 20yrd off that. and at 200yrds 20yrds will make more of a difference than you realise. Thats if your missing them at that sort of range. I once shot a fox with 2 barrels of a 12g from 15yrds and it still ran on !!!!! -
Medway uk never have anything in stock!!! every time i have used them the gear comes straight from the states.

I have just spoken to Avon & Somerset and they say you can hold as many Bullets (heads) as you wish as long as they are not made up. That includes expanding.

.22 Allowed But .17Hmr Not Allowed
rimmer replied to Beefbeefbeef's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Have you had ricochets come back towards you? No, have you?, that was my point unless you are being cryptic?? It needs several impact point to create a 180 degree ricochet, ie, into a quarry or similar, or maybe you want to argue that too? The danger of a ricochet is largely one of hitting someone outside the line of fire, not in front of it. And yes of course I've seen that .50 video, only thing I can say is only in America What YOU should be asking yourself is why have I had ricochets coming back at me, and as the 50cal video shows, they all do it it if you -
one of the reviews i read, which i have just been tring to find but cant, was by one of the writters in a shooting mag, he messed with the loads and didnt manage to find anything that shot well, the same centiment was in alot of reviews that i read. I am all up for experimenting with loads but if you dont find something your happy with then your confidence is never full. Half the problem is that I like others i know, i turn into a tart when on the range and every thing has to be just so, in the field its another matter, if the beastie drops as expected i couldnt give a stuff if the bullet str

.22 Allowed But .17Hmr Not Allowed

my FEO once told me that you only have to have one safe shot to make land suitable!!!!!!

I Have been reading alot of reviews on various hornet rifles and they all seem to fall short on grouping. I know that some of the comments on here seem to indicate the otherwise but unless a hornet will produce groups like a 223 at 100yrds i think it is off the menu for me. I dont think it is so important to get clover leaf groups for my useage but just knowing it wont do it would drive me insane!!

Anyone Exchanged Their .17Hmr For A .22 Magnum???
rimmer replied to jam1e's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
If you can group 22 subs like that at 100yrds well done thats good shooting. You need to weigh up the pros and cons. The wmr suffers more in the wind than the hmr but has more energy but sheds that energy quicker than both wmr and lr at 200 yrds the lr has more energy than the hmr, the hmr shoots flatter than the wmr. As for cost well hmr is cheaper about half the price from what i remember. -
Funny thing is when it happens you think your the only one, i did and i kept it quiet not wanting people to think i was a twat and no smoke without fire, but since this posting it seems that it is not un-common, i was 9 months without mine, I swore at the guy that was having an affair with my wife he went to the police and told them i threatened to kill him, i got a warning for a section 5 public order offence for swearing at him, and no action on the theat to kill even though they said they had a witness, it was a load of old bollocks fabricated by a dole scrounger and a slapper.

Good thing about 22 tracer is you get to see just where your shots end up, can be a real eye opener bad thing is they start fires!!!!!!

I agree, AE ammo tends to be hot and runs faster than advertised, but i cant seem to find an AE hollow point on the federal site? are you sure they were hollow point and not FMJ? I assume you are using 223? -
Being in bristol you will have a tough time of it your department is run by the same guy that doesbfixed penalties and he knows nothing about shooting, and cares even less about shooters, I know because I have been through it
