  1. Thank you for taking that as it was meant Slipper. your first shot is the basis for the shots that follow, yes the barrel will warm up which will have an effect but not much, as the barrel warms more and more with the shots that follow the groups will open up. but the difference between the first shot and the second shot should be very small. usuing the sniper senario again, they will be shooting over 300 yrds so the further out you go the bigger the difference if you had a first shot an inch high at 100yrds can you imagine what that would equate to at out at 900yrds which is a bog standard r
  2. There is some merit to this but barrel fouling affects the rifling which affects the stabilisation (not sure i spelt that right lol) of the bullet which means it could go left right high or low. 22lr is a whole diff ball game from center fire. any road i dont think its the fouling issue it prob more like a shooter issue, not meaning to be rude to slipper but more problems come from the shooter than the rifle.
  3. Not in this mans army they dont!!! you been watching too many films bud.
  4. The cold barrel theory has been kicking around for years but as to how true it is?. look at snipers no warm up or fouling shot?. to change the poi because of cleaning? and inch sounds to much and for it to be high and not left or right??.
  5. Its not the barrel cleaning thats the issue, you zero then clean your barrel and the first shot is an inch high and the second is on target does anyone seriously think that is caused by cleaning? an inch is a wee bit too much to then drop back down an inch after a single round is fired or "fouling round". seriously????/
  6. home guard ones are a bit rare, fired one once, left me barrel jet black lol
  7. my FEO told me once that all the needs is one safe shot and it will be passed!
  8. god some people talk rubbish dont they!!!
  9. As a newbie you should weigh all your loads, using a powder dispenser is not very accurate and you will need to check the load every few rounds depending on what make you buy. yes the case make can vary poi due to diff pressures but this will not affect you at this stage unless you are going to use ex-millitary brass, in which case you need to be very careful. lee dippers are excelent i would advise you get a set, but lee dies come with one. the factory crimp die is a great tool make sure you have one then you wont have to worry about OAL over and above whats in your book. hope this helps.
  10. Commercial ammo is more powerful as the military aren't allowed expanding ammo due to the Geneva Convention. Military bullets try to deliver more energy by tumbling. Commercial ammo induces hydrostatic shocking trhough expansion / fragmentation. Or to give you a more visual explanation. A soldier shot through the arm / leg often has a wound that can be bandaged (that doesn't mean its not serious). However, the same shot using commercial ammo would most probably sever all arteris veins. muscles, bone and blow the arm / leg clean off the body (depending on the calibre of course - but you wou
  11. Does that say .........look for an accurate round instead of one that suits your rifle. That's what I was taught. Can you ask whoever taught you that what it means. Cheers! looks like deker is getting hung up on diction and punctuation!!!!!!! dont worry Luto we know what you meant bud.
  12. It obviously was not the same kind of Benneli as mine, or the ones the American military and police use mate, perhaps it was a sneid copy, do you really think the armed forces and s.w.a.t would endorse sub standard goods, don't make me laugh Rimmer old chap. I have to say iam not very fussed about who uses what, there are good and bad examples of everything, i conceed that i may have had a bad example of the beni but i have a good example of and escort so thats me happy!!!. i brought cheap because of the use i had for it and i know how hard i am on shotguns, they are a crude tool and i tr
  13. got to say i would go for the 6.5 swede or a 270 i may even look at the 6mm grendle a friend of mine has one and he recons it a great round. 270 is a v good round.
  14. i have owned hatsan, benelli and beretta sa`s the beretta was the best, the benelli was truely awful cheap construction and materials and stopped every other round or it seemed that way! the Hatsan is cheap, not made from the best materials but i works every time now i did have a problem with it cycling 65mm carts so i just brought 67mm and now all is fine. i matters not if i drop it or mark it and i dont even clean it very much but it still works ok.
