  1. Well I put the first 30 rounds through the wildcat and I have to say it was very good being so lite I thought it would be a tad louder, it is of course not quite as good as the pez but the weight difference more than makes up for it. I also expected more muzzle flip but it seems to have tamed that too, my old sako was balanced to counter the weight of the pez which meant without it is got a fair muzzle flip but this new 85 is a lot better and the wildcat seems to match the rifle well. All in all I'm well happy.
  2. I have a job to do on Wednesday which will be this rife and mods first so will let you know what I think.
  3. I have been using my pez for 15 or 16 years so it's going to be nice to have something a tad lighter, the pez does a great job though.
  4. It's an evolution. I had a pet on the old Sako which weighed a ton
  5. Now that just goes to show you! Firstly federal will tell you that a twist rate of 1 in 12 won't stabilise a 55g nosler ballistic tip then N140 is not designed for lighter 223 rounds. Then you prove both wrong!!

    Badger cull

This is correct, the price has fluctuated since year one but has never been higher than 40,
  7. Hi all, just brought a wildcat to go on a Sako 85 223 anyone tell me there thoughts on this model.
  8. 23.5g of H335 with a hornady 55g sp. is my fav but i have a 1:12 twist.
  9. If you reset the parralax on a scope thats not adjustable you lose the nitrogen in the tube! bad plan.
  10. Well that was a long read, I dont know if its already been said, and i dont mean to be rude but it may not be the kit, any pics of your hmr groups? As has been said before use lower mag, at 100yrds I zero at about 6x mag, i use a very cheap Hawke reflex 3-9 x 50 which i brought off ebay for £25, i have broken too many expensive scopes!!. The home loads could be an issue but they are consistant, when you have a group that opens out like yours it is normally the shooter, it happens to us all, I have good days and bad days, i see your days are mostly bad!, practice dry firing learn your trigger
  11. I have an F1 chrony, if you hand load and are interested in what your turning out they are worth having. the manual figures are from test barrels in a factory and i find they are ...opertmistic to say the least.
  12. Very over estimated round in my opinion To expensive, to niosy and too little
  13. well i chrono mine and with a 50yrd zero they are low 4.9" at 250, but this is 55g with muz vel of 3210fps 3382 is proper top of the tree numbers, are you sure ??? how many shots did you avarage out to get to that number
  14. save your money and use it for a proper NV scope
  15. Well thers 2 minutes I wont get back!
  16. Yeah right, where to start with that. without looking back at the previous post i will asume that i did`nt mention that my barrel is a 1:12 twist and i dont want to use anything lighter than 50g so thats V-Max out of the picture, also BT ammo is no good for what i want. the reason i got someone to knock some up for me is i wanted to find a good weight over 50g closer to 55g that works well with the powder. had i have gone out and brought a box of each weight it would have cost a few pennies. another reason is that swaged bullets can be made with built in quailities that you cant buy over the c
  17. I`m with deker on this i do know a little about this subject and the sound is due to the pressure wave, which is pure at range and is a defined crack where as at the barrel its a more converluted sound contaminated with the ignition of the powder. not sure about how well rabbits in other fields can locate the origins of the sound, the one in the cross hair certainly wont.
  18. Nightmaster is a great bit of kit i use it on an n750 absolutely fantastic.
  19. Not with a hand press he wont, especially if he combines it with Lee collet dies. Oh yes he will, a hand press and the lee loader are not meant to produce consistant laods they are for range or field use when you run short. the hand press is better than the loader but a bench press is far better for consistant ammo, i have all three all Lee and all have their use..........sometimes!
  20. I have now used both 57 and 58g along with 54 and 53. by far the best so far is the still the 55g horn sp. will be trying some horn sp 50`s at the weekend will let you know how it goes
  21. to be honest i`m not sure if it can be fixed, i know they can build up various bits that wear but not sure about chamber. If it can be fixed it will cost there is no doubt about that.
  22. Its B the chamber has excessive wear.
  23. Take him a bottle of decent wiskey round and reassure him that your a decent up front guy!
  24. When you have a 1:12 rate barrel its the length of the bullet that causes problems, my 1:12 hate nosler ballistic tips in 55g, it took me an age to find out what the problem was and it was Federal that helped me out and gave me an answer to the problem, dont use nosler BT`s lol
