mind you looking for one, how did he settle and would you say he's any different from one you reared, cheers I had him when he was a young dog, about a year old, but gave him to someone at the time, due to family stuff, but got him back again as i regreted it big time when he was 6 . He remembered me and where he was, amazing, after all that time. If getting a pure however, i would personally recommend getting one from a pup, say 6 to 10 weeks old and bond with it.

Mine below on the bog the other day, you have to love them to own them, i do, he can be stubborn but so can i...lol

what a negative outlook Daniel Cain I thought youd be one for a challenge lol,,,im after getting another of late ,but i wont be asking as much from my dogs as before, a bit of rambling ,a bit of whatever gets up and hope we have some fun....my 1st x is almost 9 years old now,and we had some fun over the years,,never pushed to the limit, but thats cause i dont have a limit, hes been a very obedient dog, caught plenty of everything and im not worried my new comers are all saluki saturated ,lets hope it all goes smoothly So you are basically stating neither you nor y

You need to bond with them i find, hiding is great, works for me. Bonding is better, when you get them from a pup, 6 to 10 weeks old i find. They need to know, that your fun to be around with and if they get bored, and your allways putting them on the lead with no reward, its adios amigo...lol As articgun says, patients is the key, i am far from an expert on this matter, just going by may passed experiences on them. desertbred and articgun on here are the ones that would know more than me, especially desertbred who has had them all his life.

We get Tigers, Browns, and Red belly blacks here, only see the odd one not realy a problem just watch where you walk, and all is good Thanks. Do they ever go down the rabbit holes and pose a threat to the ferrets ? Usually only when seeking refuge, if startled they will head for the nearest cover, I have rarely seen snakes in burrows, but it does happen, yes they will kill a ferret FAST if bitten, and the ferrets will attack them. Female rabbits will drive snakes out off burrows to protect their young. PS- Real men don't fear snakes lol Thanks. Their is a fella in Br

Flea Collars? Are They Good And Which Ones?
Saluki246 replied to Tyla's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Its not cheap ! Not sure how true it is, but heard some dogs died from it ? https://www.fruugo.ie/bravecto-chewables-for-dogs-20-40kg/p-8716664-18924681?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI4KPZmNKK1gIVz5PtCh34eADGEAQYASABEgKLTfD_BwE It's certainly not cheap, it's effective though, lasts for 3 months and stops the missus worrying about kids getting ticks from the dogs. I remember when spot on treatment was supposed to be killing dogs, I've not heard of dogs dying from it myself, Atb Joe -

Plenty to go on, looks nice clear land. Do you ever get any problems with snakes ? I know their is a few over their, but not sure what species you get in Melbourne. I know up Brisbane their is a few, like carpet pythons and the deadly eastern brown ect. I would imagine they would go down the rabbit barrows ?

Cheers lads.

Lol...prehaps a 4 x 4 lawn mower would be more handy Rich ? I seen as a young lad in turkey, saluki bitches vanishing when pregnant and digging dens to have pups and rare them, nowt as strange as salukis, but i love them....

Whats the best site to upload photos on to folks ? as photo bucket seems to have gone haywire !!

.....when i was in turkey, many moons ago, the salukis lived on what was left over to eat from the villagers. Flat bread, some fruit, lots of rice and if lucky some cooked meat thrown in. The odd time, a horse or sheep would die, this would be given to them, as it was too old to eat for themselvs..lol Amazingly, they were fit and strong healthy salukis, worked all day no bother.

Good going Bird. Its them sort of rabbits that are good craic i reckon, Buck did well, he seems to have a good mouth and turn of speed. Good luck for the season ahead.

I have found, salukis and saturated saluki lurchers, seem to do better on a high carb diet, like rice pasta bread scraps ect. compared to your average lurcher. Something to do with them being use to this food and adapting to it over thousands of years or so longer then other dogs.
