It all depends on the dogs breeding and what it is bred for. The modern gsd are mainly show bred and as you say, deformed. Some are bred for work and need a lot of training to keep them happy. Some have very high drive, so if just left, will go nuts. Their is still some good working/guarding gsd around and some have diluted blodd in them from before the berlin wall went down. If your dog does its job and your happy with him, then thats all that matters, but if your in doubt that he will aprehend an intruder, then a pup from better working lines would be the way to go. Most these day have to b

Doesn't really seem to of had that effect on Collies, Labradors, Pointers, Foxhounds, Spaniels, German Shepherds etc etc. All popular show breeds while also having a strong following among working dog folk. There's room for both in the dog world IMO i think it pretty much destroyed the german shepard in the uk,thats why we import them now from eastern europe. i certainly think there will be detrimental effect on all those breeds, its just theyre essential or very important in their role so people have strived to keep quality working lines alive. i think completing working t

Another thing i noticed in the pic, is the amount of nettles coming up, they must play hell with the dogs feet...sting like hell this time of the year.. My pups ran across a load the other morning, they were hoping from one foot to the next with the stings for an hour or 2 after....lol

Well said. Their is no true irish terrier or cross now, as the real working irish terrier is moreless instinct. The silly KC club put an end to a lot of the real working irish terriers. ! How did the kennel club put an end to anything? They're just a registry. What put an end to a lot of working terrier breeds is the men that worked them moving on to the next big thing. Truly valued working breeds never die out, they just split into working and show/pet strains. The KC set a standard and the show bregade try their best to acieve this standard, its all about looks, not working abili

Very few, if any, good working irish terriers left now. One i have below, from old breeding, irish terrier x greyhound with a touch of saluki. She does it all, but 5 now and getting on, comes from very good old working lines.

I've had the 150 and 170 side by side and I prefer the 150 by a mile. The beam is a different colour, its whiter and clearer and takes a little getting use too, there is also less side glare. I've had one since they came out and hammerd it and the only problem I've had is the lenses falling out which I glued back in and not had a problem since. There are no wires to get snagged or repair and battery to carry around as its built in the handle. Then there's the price £64.99 for the 150 or £300 for 170 and 22amp lithium battery at this price I'd buy two a year if needed. Also another reason I

600 Grams Of Dry Food 22 % Protein
Saluki246 replied to Dranny GLC's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
Salukis and saluki saturated lurcher do better on carbs, like rice and pasta with chicken ect, they are bred over thousands of years to live off what they can find. They are a lean dog and hard to get wait on, too much protein ect, is not good for them, just my take on them and my experince of owning them.. Have a look at this clip below, of a arabian in sauidi and look at what he feeds his dogs.. not saying that the only way, but it sort of gives you a clue.. -
Back in 1993, i got a pure greyhound bitch with intentions of breeding from her to create lurcher pups. She was use to hunting in the field and was a demon on foxes.. I use to walk her eary in the mornings for a quick walk along the bog roads before work. One morning, their was this women with a small terrier of some breeding walking towards me, i had never seen anyone on this bog before, it was a quiet spot. Now my greyhound bitch not seen many small dogs, only the odd one. She was owened by a greyhound racer before me and he mentioned to me not to let her off if small dogs were about. This

Fair play to you lad, sounds like the person that had her before does not deserve to keep dogs. Keep up the good work, she will only get better.
