  1. NAME AND SHAME THEM ALL!!! as well as the PEDDLERS!! Regards Aaron
  2. thanks for the advice i might try just a lab what way does a lab will they work thick cover Its all dependent on the dog itself, labs arnt best known for hunting but all breeds throw differant ones, spanials are pritty much garenteed if the lines are right for hunting. My lab will hunt cover almost as good as the springer but the size makes the springer better. Labs will hunt but there not as keen generally. Its all dependent on what you really want to do? Regards Aaron
  3. We have had the topic on which lamp etc but what colour filter if any do you use? Personally i like an Amber lense on foxes as it takes the glare away but not the brightness but i dont bother with one on rabbits, What do all you use? Regards Aaron
  4. Always an interesting topic, Personaly i like a mix of both to start with and then switch over to mainly gas for the long run. Electric hens are a great way to start the birds of due to the birds actually making contact to the heaters. Once the birds are two - three weeks old we then switch over to gas. Using gas is alot more demanding, checking gas bottles, worrying about lamps blowing out etc. Elcectric gives of a drier heat source than gas does, not that i think it really makes that much differance but every little helps. When birds are younger they seem to do much better of electric he
  5. what are your opinions on the flappers and the whirlys? which do you think makes the most effect on your pattern? last year i had a day on some rape stubble with a friend, we had a whirly and a flapper with us. we set up in the morning and by the afternoon the flight line changed, now, the whirly just would not pull the birds but when the flapper was on it pulled them like magnets. since then i have had a couple of days an i personally think that a flapper makes the birds respond far better than a whirly, so what are your opinions/experiances? Regards Aaron

  9. Iv currently gotta a springer cross lab purley for dogging in and the odd bit of rough shooting (still only young), there really isnt anything to gain or lose for that matter by crossing. i seem to have struck lucky with mine mind, she has the hunting instinct of the springer, decent size to her, doesnt put on weight to easy yet she is very biddable and layed back, alot of cross breeds work out for the better and you dont know unless you try, find a litter out of good dogs and it will be a useful dog. Regards Aaron
  10. Are they reared duck or are you just flighting in to the pond? i wouldnt surround the whole of the pond as it could discourage the duck from flighting in, also with reared it helps if you can feed them up the bank so as it helps encourage them off the pond. before you plant up certain banks check wich way the duck flight into the pond so as to not discourage them. hope it helps. Regards Aaron

  16. A little trick i use on them is tubs that rat bait come with, once empty cut a small hole in the lid so that they are able to get in and fill it a quarter of the way up with wheat, let them get use to it and then stick a fenn mk 4 in the bottom just burried in the wheat, works really well and on rats, make sure you tie the lids on as if the get caught by the leg etc it'll be out through the lid with the fenn and the lid in tow! Regards Aaron
