    I'd say the same. Also it would be pretty odd for an owl pellet to have such long fur in it, and an absence of tiny bones, and it's the wrong colour

    Yeah I go with Darcy. It's not a Great crested newt. Doesn't look anything like one. Smooth newts and palmate newts are similar but smooth newts tend to have a spotty throat which this one doesn't suggesting it is palmate. Male palmate newts have webbed feet at this time of year which this one doesn't appear to have so it's a female.

    That's all pretty impressive. Glad to hear you are pleased with them too. I bought the £40 monocular and am surprised at the quality of it... Especially for a £40 bit of kit. If I didn't already hace the swaro's I think Vortex are the way i'd go.

    Not really got time to go into detail. In my personal experience it is f***ing hard, nigh on impossible to follow up a deer that has had it's jaw blown off unless you have a really good dog or get lucky. A blown off jaw, throat shot etc will take 2 or 3 days to die and this occurs through dehydration. Blown off legs and nicked spines are similar but can be survivable. Gut shots are fatal within an hour, certainly 2. Mostly the rest of the fuxk ups in chest shooting a good dog will find dead but in a mess. Chest shooting is more humane.

    As walshie said there is no legal spec for a Boar rifle, but did I miss it somewhere, is he interested in Boar as well? If so, then no contest, get a .308, that was my prime reason for a .308, that and a bit of target, its probably 4-5 years since I took it out for any deer. However, if its just Roe and Reds then a .243, easy on the Roe but don't go throwing it at Reds if they are in the next county.     That's more about bullet choice than calibre. Fc England use. 308, kielder forest shoot in excess of 2000 Roe annually with it. I would have thought they shoot between 800 and a thousand Roe annually at Thetford. As well as Reds. It does the job.

    .270 can be a have a very snappy recoil and like Walshie, personally I would say isn't as nice as. 308 to shoot... Unmoderated. With a moderator it's a pussy cat and a very good round. If you have shot. 308 and don't like then you don't like it and that's the end of it. Personally I think a lot of shooting is psychological so you have to be happy with what you are using.
