For Sale 5/8 Collie 3/8 Greyhound
Neoleaver replied to The Boxer's topic in Working Dogs & Livestock
I make that 9/16 collie so a we bit less collie than 5/8, sound like they might make handy curs. Any pics of sire and dam mate......genuinely interested. -
ffs please research how to use properly before even putting one near the dog What if all else fails mushroom? I get what you're saying mate...But this is a pretty bad case here where a mature dog has not only started chasing but has already nailed one sheep. Course you.shouldn't be over hard on a dog for every small thing..but this is no small thing...it's the dogs last chance. Pet home or pts.

Whippet X Greyhound Vs Collie Greyhound ?
Neoleaver replied to Dranny GLC's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Collie grey for me.....if you put the time in. Depends if you get on with em, not for everyone. They learn fast, good habits and bad! If the dogs gonna be in kennel all day I'd go for a whip/grey...collie x 's can go a bit daft without plenty stimulation. Collie/whip/grey same to be quite popular these days, great wee rabbiting dog mix. -
One on pre-loved now mate 3/4 grey 1/4 deer, 4 month old, dog pup....Cardiff

Is he a beardie cross mate? Good result for him, nice to get some early sucess.
-
Dogs a credit mate, obviously a lot of time and effort put in
-
Dog might just be a bit frustrated mate watching the other dogs run the beam, you can do too much of that I reckon, pups just getting bored and looking for a way into to the action maybe?? Best of luck mate anyhow.
-
Bonny lass she is mate, looks like she's coming on a treat....best of luck with her. Really liking the look of these cur types, make a lot of sense in this day and age. Just out of curiosity, how much sighthound in the mix?
-
You're right mate killing is killing, but for me there's a difference between having some reverence for the life you've taken and gratitude and respect for the meat you've gained.......and taking it for granted without a thought, like its just one more point scored in a game. There's nothing weak or 'wrong about that for me.......like I said we're men not machines.
-
Killing is part of living, every living thing is food for something else.....but taking any life is a serious business to do it for kicks or sport...I dont understand. My lad came shooting with me the other day and we despatched a bunny the young lad handn't quite got a clean headshot on. He asked me if he was 'soft' to feel a 'bit sad' for the life he'd took...I said no I feel it every time son. Its not a Ps3 game, its real life....I'm a man not a machine.

If you know what breeding 'casper' was I'll crunch the numbers.......for what its worth. Pm.

Depends how much greyhound mate, is yours bull grey x collie grey, first cross to first cross or was one/both sire and dam more greyhound in the mix? Could potentially be a good dog either way....just will make a difference how racy your pup turns out. 1st x collie greys can be lumps and even more so with 1st x bull grey...the two together...well it aint rocket science is it. Then again...one mans 'lump' is another mans ideal mooching type.

Looks like a pure Belgian Malinois (dont mean it is) If its out of a lurcher dam then the sire's gonna be GSD I reckon. Does he catch owt? All that matters really....bonny dog either way pal.

dont know about that No I agree looks totally different

If you get on with collies, not everyone does, collie x will do everything you want. Never fancied a collie whippet, but I saw one a few week ago that was a cracker, tuff little bugger too the lad runs it regular and its never seen a vet in 7 year. Collie grey would be the way for me if your looking for an all round rabbiter/shooting companion/best mate type of dog, the potential is there for a great dog, especially having a lot of time available. That said I'd take troter's invite if I were you. Could do alot worse than a beddy/whippet, can take knocks better than a whippet and there work ra

Advice On Buying Adult Dogs At This Time Of Year.
Neoleaver replied to Floyd17586's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Unless I knew the dog well, and it belonged to a mate or summat, I wouldnt personally...but thats me, depends what you expect out of the dog really. -
My old mate used to tell me all his tales of egg collecting, like you say every egg has its own story, he was a good bit older than me mind. By the time I was a young lad in the 80's it was frowned on and we were encouraged to just spot them thru the bino's and tick em off in your book, shame really because you dont need anything like as much knowledge about the birds to do that, nesting habits/times, habitat etc. Even the old fella that took the young ornithologists club out birdwatching admitted he'd got most of his knowledge from egg collecting. He used to say that done right with care you

Hope my young uns as keen as you mate, he's only 6 mind ,gonna show him the ropes wi this next pup later this year. That pup looks a cracker BS btw.

For some running dogs are a sport, for others like me they're for putting meat on the table. With any sport you'll always have those prepared to stump up the cash for the best dog/horse/striker/boxer whatever. As for the hyping of dogs, its all part of the sideshow that comes with the sport. Some will be taken in, others who know their sport will see thru the bullshit. I dont want any part of it, so I choose not to, but I can appreciate the passion these blokes have for the coursing hounds. Like I say not my cup of tea but good luck to em.

They wont want the folks back home to know they've got infidel blood in em pp!!

Can see why you might think that mate, but two pups together will tend to make training more difficult as they'll compete with each other, sounds like it might be useful but when your trying to get them retrieving and they're fightin over the dummy/bunny or your trying to do some basic obedience stuff wi one and the others dickin about distractin it etc etc. Can be a right pain in the arse. Far better to have one dog trained to a good standard with a few seasons behind it that can then help you school the next pup by example. One dog at a time mate, not sayin two's impossible, there is lads th

I thought the wee black and tan looked like the one from pp's litter, some good breeding there bud, good luck wi em!
