Was out a wander about an hour ago an the dog chased a rabbit in through some bushes an came nack out wi a quite slim but long thorn stickin out his eye !! Got whole thorn out got him home an rinsed his eye thourghly with a sterile eye wash...hes had a good feed an is now sleepin though his eye is red an a bit closed over he seems fine...just wanted any advice on what to watch out for....never had any dog with this type of injury....any advice would be welcome...thanks gravedigger..

My old avatar pic was of my dog who had been hunting an had some blood around his mouth and i was told to remove it by a moderator on here.!! Not a pic with any quarry species pre ban or since but was told its unsuitable !!! A pic of a working dog not allowed on a working dog forum lol !! Forget repealing the ban when we have this type of censorship from "one of our own"..rant over....happy hunting..gravedigger...

My own dog has become very adept at sniffing out certain game an usually 100% spot on....mentioned it in passing to a mate an he suggested it was the fair amount of beddie in him that was problably why he hunts on scent as well as sight with terriers be more prone to using there nose...which got me thinkin.....anybody ever noticed or had first hand with a lurcher who will hunt a lot of the time on scent alone.....my previous dogs relied more on sight than scent bein sal X an a pure bred grew......are certain types of lurcher more prone to scent than others ??? Just wondered what peoples experi

My mate had a collie X grey an it was a great ferreting dog........but it was also very good at pullin deer as well.......maybe best wi a collie x whippet if its solely rabbits your after......or a beddie whippet x.......good luck in your search.....

Bit of advice needed lads.......thought long an hard (over a few years) about lookin to purchase a terrier.....had lurchers for quite a number of years now an would like a terrier too.....really liked the look of the smooth coated red patterdales...can anybody tell me if this is a certain line etc or are they just not as common as the "black 'uns"...I know colour makes no bearing on working ability but I really liked the look of this type......any info would be much appreciated lads....thanks....chris...

Thankfully dog has been reunited with his owner.....just by chance my wife an her sister spotted a young fella out wi a lead an no dog an asked him if he'd lost a dog an he described it to a tee right down to the collar it had on......5y/o chocolate patterdale...thanks also to trevor w for the pm........chris.....

Found a terrier wanderin the streets about to get hit by a car......took it home an cleaned an fed it.....friendly enough wee thing...any info regarding owner etc much appreciated...must be able to prove its there terrier..not givin it to any tom,dick or harry...greenock area.....thanks lads chris

Any lads west of scotland fancy a get together when the season starts ???
