a golden retreiver will set you back abouy £350-£500 theres almost no working retreiver lines left now i personally wouldnt touch one with a barge pole hip dysplasia is a more than common occurence among other faults, spaniels and labs are cheap but theres two price ranges theres the working price range and the field trial price range, trialing bred dogs go for alot more money usually double.obviously because the working bred dogs are bred to supply the lads with stock where as the trialing stock covers a much larger market!!!

in their place the collar can be a good thing!!! the reason most dont like em is,people get dependanton using em!! right time right place perfect!!! iv had one for two years but then again ive only used it twice, would i be with out it no!!! for stock breacking a trouble some dog invaluable, same as the problem you had the other day,one smack as hes going up to the dog would be perfect!!!,you probably wouldnt have to use it again!!!

same as everything lol depends on what you want and where you are, prices vary from £500-£800,i have a litter here at present, both parents low hip scores,£650. i can see you know what you are talking about mate, but thats a shedload of money! wouldn't you prefer them to go to good working homes and sell em at £50-£100 each? just seems like a huge amount of money, and as im sure you know, money doesnt guarantee quality. JMO shame on you to question the cost of a well breed pup l/l. if thats the going rate and you want that breed thats [bANNED TEXT] ya pay simple. all my pups go t

nobody really knows the extent of the injury but you if you feel the dog is fine then take him out give him some light running, and increase it for a few days nothing serious just some road work or jogging then go for a few sprints get a mate to hold him and call him across a field so he has a bit of a gallop,if hes ok do it for a few days then take him out give him one or two rabbits, once again use common sense and increase accordingly!!! good luck with him mate theres nothin worse than havin a laid up dog and wondering when you can take him out again..........

i manage i tend to work like a dog all summer then take all my holidays in the winter for hunting, gets me out at least four days a week, the lamping i do through out so i manage, dont do much picking up but all the dogs i have will retreive!!! need to get out with the camera more and take some decent pics!!!
-
cheers mate, thanks for the support!!! to be honest ive not had any experience with a wire haired vizsla but wouldnt rule getting one one day im just happy with what i have really!!! as far as using a heatlamp mate i think its invaluable,i use em in the summer as well as the winter, just helps a pup keep weight on,they lose weight by trying to keep warm so its obvious if you have warmth, they will retain weight and grow stronger more quickly!!!! il be doing the same too mate shredded paper as they get a little stronger!!! cheers mate i have some pics somwhere just not on this pc,

i have two bitches working, another in semi retirement, and two young dogs, one of wich a friend will be having to work over his female finnish gos... never had anything to do with the wire haired vizsla's tho id not one day rule one out!!! i also work an english springer spaniel.. two weimeraners and a bull cross lurcher!!! i also have a 5 month weimeraner pup im considering to bring on.... i work the majority over gun and a few to the hawk i pick up and beat on two shoots as well so i have plenty of work for what i have!!!
-
have a look at the pic millet lol, theres a guard all the way round, and as the pups get a bit stronger il add shredded paper!!! i know where i stand lol..... before the bitch had pups i had shreded paper down but i removed it before she had the pups as i was scared shed bury a pup or get the guard rails blocked up once the pups are a little more mobile il add more shredded paper!!!
-
cheers mate,no its not the bitch thats had the pups, its one of my other bitches,i couldnt be with out that bicth throught hte seasons shes dynamite lol.... the other bitch will be up and going in about 10 weeks shel be weaned from the pups at about 5-6 weeks old then a bit of exercise and drying up and she'l be away then mate!!! bit of light work till shes fit again, tho i have plenty of stock here so it wont be too much pressure on her!!! how many do you own mate? do you work your dogs on furred as well as feathered? all together i have 5 vizsla's not counting the eight pups
-
no mate wales!!! I noticed that.. i would personally get the pup's of the floor to save chill's and any draught's Millet theres a reason i have no bedding on the floor, the bitch will scratch and scrape up anything i put down as the pups get a bit stronger il add shredded paper, the problem i might get now is a pup squashed behind the guard or buried or trapped under carpet,i know how to rear pups, and how will they chill from draughts when there are none, wood also absorbs heat from the heatlamp theyre under, woods not the best for hygene but it is warm!!!

looking tidy mate, may be worth lining the inside with ply tho the thin stuff is ok,makes it easyer to clean and doesnt give them any corners to chew, just an idea for you cheers Gaz!!!
-
looking good kiwi!!!
-
mum seems great gonna do her some warm grub now then off to work, cheers kiwi!!!
-
well folks its been a hard night for some of us(im shattered lol)dont know what they are yet as i dont wanna play with em heres this mornings pics before i go to work, cheers for now guys....
-
both very similar in working style tho the vizsla has a bit more drive, when scent is poor,on the other hand the weimeraners are more suited to bigger game like foxes deer and pigs not that ive used them for big game personally!!! id rate the vizsla over the weimeraner for temperament working ability and drive,if i had to choose the vizsla would win hands down every time!!! I don't have mine anymore I had to pass her on(to a working home) due to the usual boring domestic type stuff. Still enough of that. She was great with the obedience but was almost scared of game .

i keep both vizsla's and weimeraners,id rather the vizsla anyday very versatile dogs mine work to gun and hawk, will go all day long ive fallen in love with the breed, cracking dogs....the weimeraners are a little harder and its a job to find a decent working strain but they are there more suited to big stuff like blood trailing deer etc they have stacks of guts!!!
