carmarthen shire 1400 square miles coast hill and mountain lol, what a job!!!

On a public footpath also mate, anywhere used by the public the dog has to be under reasonable control, please dont make me check in my dog law handbook!!!(its really boring)and saying that with the new clean neigbherhoods act coming into force the fouling laws may change also, its a bit behind at the mo here in wales so not sure how it would stand!!! Forgot about the new act Gary  The old system meant that town and parish councils request a dogs on lead byelaw and put this forward to the district council. Dogs had to be on a lead walking adjacent to a public highway but not foot

a 50/50 is gonna be a very hard dog to find, not many people want em,and not many are gonna breed em,if you can find somebody who has a greyhound bitch they wanna put to a collie fine but that bitch has to have the right temprament, hancock is a puppy farmer, but with a 50/50 the sire and dam are generally unproven anyway,if someone has a coursing or working greyhound bitch great, but pace will be lost and ul be counting down the days to outcrossing the pup you have already kenneled we had a good bitch years ago, shed catch rabbits all night but shed not kill em in style, hedge killing wed call it,w

With regards fouling Moll, your dog can foul woodland, agricultural land, pavements with a speed limit above 40mph and your neighbours garden 'cos its private property  I know about the fouling of land act and dog byelaws, I used to be a dog warden.......... Ur right about the fouling law simonian but wrong about not having the dog on the lead, law states that your dog must be under control at all times if it is more than 15 ft out then it is deemed out of control this is why theese flexy leads are a certain length they work within the law,on a highwy your dog has to be on a lead

how many others did you see then????

nice looking dog kiwi,im not so sure about those boots tho definately dodgy!!!

pups just coming into three weeks old now guys, had their first meal!!! beta pup finely minced dry then mixed with warm water and lamlac dry milk!!! bit messy but they got the idea in the end!!! its amazing how theese little corkers grow every day lol!!!
-
yes well there we go!!! if there was better id have them, same as the other lads that work their dogs to their full potentia,i mean not 30 foxes a year i mean twice three times that, remember theres hobby hunters and theres lads out there doing it flat out!!!l
-
Id stick to the gwp vizsla or german weimeraner,if you can get a good working strain of weimeraner you wont go wrong all three of theese are very good blood scenting dogs,a friend of mine breeds gwp's and i have a litter of vizsla's at the mo heres my friends website!!! http://s143390116.websitehome.co.uk/

correst sammy rated it highly,it was used when he was a kid in the pre myxi days, never lamped but was a good day ferreting dog,it was an accidental mating with his old greyhound bitch if i remember correctly!!!
-
now then that is a bold claim. garypco i agree that most bull crosses are ideal for killing foxes but so they should be f**k me most of them are built like tanks and totally overmatch there quarry whats the average weight of a bull/greyhound. very few bulls fight to the death so i m o. a well bred patt pound for pound is harder as it will give its life to get the job done. i have a wheaten x and had a bull x many years ago i rate my wheaten x higher the wheatens are good dogs, cant deny that but on a percentage, ratio ul get more decent dogs from the bull bred stuff, some of the old wheaten

you'de of caught twice as many if you hadnt of scared them away with those knobbly knees!!!
-
At the end of the day it dont matter who has or says what nothing and i mean nothing on this earth!!! will beat a bull cross at catching and killing foxes!! a bull is the ultimate gladiator it can not be beat by anyother dog pound for pound so putting this blood into a lurcher is the best route to take, most dogs will catch a few foxes but they wont stick day in day out!! my m8ts old dog frankie once took 14 january foxes in the space of a week,to say he was a bit sore was an understatment there is NO saluki or greyhoud ar deerhound or bedlington or anything that can do what this cross doe
-
its funny you say that kiwi,we tend to use them exclusively as a flushing dog, kept to just flushing and hunting i guess they make a good type of dog although they make great deer bloodscenting dogs too, thought most pig hunters kept their dogs off deer as,a day out pig hunting could be ruined should a dog take a deers line? god i wish i had the vast ammout of game you guys have!!!
-
id not rule it out but the bitches i have aint really that way inclined, the dog ur talking about it les's gwp bitch frankie, shes an exellent bitch goes everywhere with les dogging shoot days and pest control,i remember the day she took the fox in question les had been losing poults so he sat waiting for the fox, when it arrived les shot it but unnfortunately it ran off frankie hunted it for a fair while les followed and saw her catch it a fair way off once shed despatched it she retreived it as if it was something shed always done at the time she was quite young, since then shes had a few!!!

well done mate,ur quick action obviously saved her, mars bars are great, you can also give her some glucose half way thru the day, hopefully you wont be in this situation again anyway but its frightening when something like this happens!!! best of luck mate, hope for a speedy recovery!!!

ive had a couple of gsp's they didnt suit,i dont really like the gwp's although there are some great ones out there, check this link out my friend hunts and works them,he's a keeper in west wales!!! http://s143390116.websitehome.co.uk/ i am slowly starting to like em tho ive chosen my breed and will stick to them its nice to have a bit of uniformity when out hunting,i dont like having loads of different breeds, the gwp and gsp's are a bit rangyer as well they tend to go out a bit,the vizsla is a much closer working dog just more suited to the way i do things!!!
-
Bang on the money again kiwi!!! theyre a very versatile breed, not as soft as people make out granted theyre not a dog that likes a beating, they need a gentler and softer approach to training, but when it comes to the everyday working hazzards then i never see a problem, they dont do very well in extreme cold either but in west wales i dont really get a problem on that front!!! for me they are the mutts knuts il never see myself without one,ive had my bitch out beating two days on the trot and shes out again tomorrow, then hawking sat and sun, theese dogs get fit easy and once fit they go on a

same as everything lol depends on what you want and where you are, prices vary from £500-£800,i have a litter here at present, both parents low hip scores,£650. i can see you know what you are talking about mate, but thats a shedload of money! wouldn't you prefer them to go to good working homes and sell em at £50-£100 each? just seems like a huge amount of money, and as im sure you know, money doesnt guarantee quality. JMO Just curious why did you query the price of a vizsla when in your posting below you admit to spending £550 in the post below, just baffles me???
-
Cheers mate, shes having fresh tripe at night and a as much complete dry food ad lib as she needs through out the day!!! shes lost a bit of weight off her back but shes got plenty of covering!!!
