i get on with them....they can be a bit dominant and sometimes a little squeaky in the kennels etc but the nose working ability and stamina is unquestionable....

if i was to enter a dog that didnt make the grade it would only go one place!!! theres wastage in everything even the best stock has wastage!!! i recently schooled a 28" deerhound bull greyhound 5th gen out of 100% tested stock shooled him right worked a season on rabbits then went onto the big stuff... hes gone now...... he was twice the type his brother was and schooled the same way....he simply didnt have the heart his brother did... these dogs should only ever two places one is very dark and cold the other is a pet home once theyve been spayed or neutered..if this was done right wed al

if we work our dogs to the levels they work at they will come a cropper now and then...to an extent they are tools.....however a dog shud never be passed from pillar to post....you have a responsibility to put your dog into the best place poss...one of my best friends is a gypsy he buys and sells dogs like you wouldnt beleive ive bought dogs off him in the past..but ive refused to sell him dogs..and told him why..a dog might not neccasarily be for life as i tend to retire mine to pet homes when the time comes...however if a dog is right runs with good heart and is honest it should be afforded

Threads a load of bollocks the lurcher in its own right is a make up of different breeds you only have a vote for a first cross.... how can you vote colliexbullxgreyhound etc most lurchers are of no major use as a first cross its allways the second cross ie the genetic percentage game makes up the true all rounder!!! a first cross bull greyhound is a good dog but not a true all rounder neither is a collie cross etc etc etc thread dont make sense to the true lurcher man..... only to kids who think they know what makes a dog!!!!

Don't you check the land in the day time before you lamp at night? its not always poss some boys have to travel huge distances to run! -

there not suppose to leave mom till 10 weeks.so probly needing feeding from mom still.so many other things too. not suppose to leave the house for 10 weeks either.so at 6weeks no wonder it died.sad to say and shame people dont take the vets advise pups should be more than well on their way to weaning at 6 weeks ive had pups weaned at 4 weeks before now as the bitch had enough(poor cow)i generally keep pups and let them go at 7-8 weeks old 10 weeks is a little old to hang onto them.. ive let pups go to experienced people at 6 weeks no problems!!!

Best thing i use specially for fox bites etc is the mastitis tubes farmers use when a dairy cow has mastitis can be injected into the cuts direct etc can even be put directly into the eye if the dog has a scratched or damaged lense... even stitches etc it can be injected directly into an area as it forces the gunk out and replaces with peniccilin.... a must have for the serious hunting lurcher... ive seen some serious states healed in extra quick time with this stuff!!!

Garypco replied to ferret boy charlie's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Had a couple of dogs killed before now broken legs had to be pts etc.... cramps old dog had if i remember 150 odd stitches from a tumble with some antlers he had another 120 odd inside his back leg from a tin sheet!!! another fifteen and a cracked skull inbetween his eyes after running into an rsj!!! and many various we used to call him frankenstein lol... those where the days eh jase lol... worst ive had so far this year is stitches to my bitches head after a kennel fight..... i came home and my cousin had brought her in... i should have taken a before pic really as the open wound was -
happens to the coursing boys who run over flint regular.... pm blaze he had a bitch once lost both her stoppers she ran fine but had problems he used to run her with a pair of supports that went over the feet and knuckle... hes on the forum maybe hed be able to let you know where he got them from!!! you can run without them but the support just gives them time to heal when a little sore etc...

Springadors have been around for a long time ive seen some very useful dogs in my time!!! a good friend of mine keepers in welshpool hes been breeding/using them a long time now!!!
-
a pic manufacturers name and location always helps to sell an item mate good luck with it!!!
-
weimaraners yes...the dominant trait is in a lot of them ive rarely seen it in the vizsla tho...id say this was an isolated case...altho my best guard dog years ago was my labrador buck... he left his teeth in one or two of my mates who got too close to me lol!!!
-
The vizsla and the gwp are the closest of working hpr's versatile on the moors but equally as happy in woodland and rough areas, mine have never seen a moor and work alot of places alot of dogs would struggle!!! a spaniel i think would suit better than a lab for rough or walked up shooting...tho ive seen and owned a few good labs a couple would put a spaniel to shame.... im biased on the vizsla as they more than fulfil my needs...saying that i guess ur the same way on the lab!!! horses for courses, fortunetely my horse is russet gold lol....

Microchipping legally docked pups
Garypco replied to GameBirdMeg's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
sorry gary but you are wrong if the dog is docked it has to be chipped to be legal check out the council for docked breeds website well the pups ive done havent been and nobody else has said a thing a vet pulled someone for not havng the cert on a check up tho nothing was mentioned about the chip....may of been a requirement on the council of docked breeds but not a legality...my vet may be wrong but im not going to pull him when hes happy doing it....as hes doing nothing but docking pups now hes retired i presume he knows the ins and outs on the law like i said hes doing at least 4-5 lit -
Microchipping legally docked pups
Garypco replied to GameBirdMeg's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
You dont have to microchip the pup! vets are using this as an excuse to make extra from the docking!....the vet i use is a retired vet and he docks 5-6 litters a week he doesnt microchip a single pup!!! i asked him he said its not a legal requirement only one other vets are using to get pups chipped! -
dont have a problem with mine...they do suffer a little in cold tho i can count on 1 hand the times ive seen them uncomfortable...maybe twice after a hard days rough shooting then night flighting duck in extreme cold weather.....i have a few vizslas... i dont see them being headstrong the young dog im working at the moment is a little pushy but thats drive more than stubborness....if you do go for a viz make sure you get one from a decent working home...there are a few breeders out there just pretending if you know what i mean..alot of the showyer strains aint worth feeding....mine tend to be
